On a free, yes. If Wickham is going to be out then Lokilo, Anderson and Ladapo are our backups for Benteke. No disrespect to those guys but Gayle has more experience.

So why haven't we been playing them in The Premiership of late then?

Coming into today's game, Gayle has started eight league games this season and Newcastle have lost them all

Puncheon is next with 6

I'm guessing Puncheon isn't going to reach that figure, one way or another

I think Gayle has proven that he is a Championship+ player, or what we call a AAAA (baseball for too good for AAA but not a Major Leaguer). He is not what Palace needs right now.

If we're going for a Newcastle striker I'd rather have mitrovic. With Luka I have a feeling he'd be well liked with palace fans.

Thought that you were talking that he had a battery in him. The Toon won't be selling anybody, they need to recruit but don't have the figures due to the possible takeover.

I think Dwight would do well in our current side, even as a player to come on. He's certainly the 'type' we need imo, albeit not actually him!

The only thing is that Gayle would probably work best in a 4-4-2 playing off Benteke. He clearly cannot play a lone striker role. We are kinda doing that with Zaha currently

If we had someone else there, Zaha could revert to wing where is probably still most effective e.g. Watford allowing RLC back to his more natural position in middle. Rather attacking team though
