Every time I answered someone who said that the 2010 gang had risked their own money to buy the club by pointing out that they had all taken out debentures securing their monies on the ground amongst other assets I was again castigated for being nasty

And you were right, in terms of buying the club, they took a minimal to zero risk. They did have to stick some cash in every season we were in the Championship, but they've had that back in spades since, and good luck to them.

My only gripe with them is that, in our fifth consecutive season in the PL, we have absolutely bugger all to show for it in terms of infrastructure. If we're relegated this season, we're right back to where we were when they bought the club, and I think that those who actually supported the club deserve a bit better than that.

Agreed Bexley. What had happened to all the improvements to ground, training facilities, academy that have been promised?
Transfer market and wages have got so out of hand I can only assume it takes all we've got to keep on top of the wage bill?
I really don't know, but I just support the team,I'll leave all the other s*** to people far richer and far better qualified to look after.

Back in the day when Palace fan Mark Goldberg bought Palace and lost it all in an ill-judged attempt to make us a great club we went in to administration.

Time went on and nobody wanted to touch us. We were saved at the 11th hour by another Palace fan, Simon Jordan. SJ put his money up and bought the club. He did his best for 10 years in which time he got us into the Premier League and, unfortunately, back down again.

Jordan is a divisive figure but I respect him for his stance on agents, stuffy chairman, the FA, Dowie and so on.

He is a Palace fan who also lost it all in attempting to make us a great club, in the right way. Probably what took him over the edge was buying the freehold of the ground.

Palace again went in to administration because, as SJ puts it, "I ran out of money" and also he details how, in his opinion, Steve Parish was in the background putting the boot in.

(You can read about this in his book and he talks about it on his Twitter feed and in interviews)

So there we were again, in administration and nobody wanted to touch us. Up steps Parish and 3 other Palace fans to save us at the 11th hour.

Fast forward to January 2015 and we get 2 extra American investors. All well and good.

My question is this, why does Jordan get so much sh*t from Palace fans while Parish is seen as the golden one?

When we were in the PL under Dowie nobody said "Jordan can do what he likes, he saves us from extinction!" In fact people were over joyed when he went after Dowie after he left for Charlton in the same way as Parish going after Pulis.

So why is Parish seen as the Pope for saving us while Jordan is seen as the devil incarnate?

Parish had a hand in pulling the rug from under Jordan. Maybe it was for the best, maybe it wasn't but that's not the point, is it?

I have a lot of time for Jordan and also for Goldberg... Okay, more sympathy for Goldberg but who among us wouldn't buy the club if we had £50m in the bank and we were about to become extinct?

Goldberg failed. Jordan failed. The thing they have in common is they were one man bands. Parish had 3 other investors and now he has a further 2 making it a 6 man team yet he is perceived to be some fantastic businessman.

Like Goldberg and Jordan I have a lot of time for Parish (and the other 3) for saving the club. But, they have major failings and should be criticised, held to account and questioned.

I just don't get why some people dislike Jordan so much. Maybe I'm just getting old because I even have a new found respect for Ron Noades and what he did for Palace after reading how much scouting he did and how he had to convince Coppell to sign players like Geoff Thomas.

Noades got no credit and Coppell got it all, nothing against Coppell!

I get equally annoyed when someone is credited for writing a hit song when it is the producer who actually crafts the song into the hit we all know and love from a basic demo. But that is a conversation for another day.

Totally agree with this

Jordan and Goldberg were Palace through and through

Gets on my goat when people who are meant to be Palace slag them off

Yes.
Both well-intentioned, spent a great deal of their money but in the end it just didn't work out for them.

I just genuinely felt Jordan wasn't intelligent enough for the job. He was a random fan who got lucky with his phones business and then let his own ego run wild. That is my opinion but supported by the fact he spunked it all, which SP has yet to do.

Remember when he said he couldn't give a toss about casual fans to the Adder (back when it wasn't as utterly dire as it now is)? Just so unintelligent as a thing to say and almost nothing else he did gave cause to believe it was an aberration. At least with uncle Ron you felt like he was partly on the make for us.

Then there was the hiring of his brother, who again didn't appear the crispest breadstick in the packet.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Perhaps Steve Parish's performances as Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones has won him quite a few fans!!

I sat next to him at school. He wasn't the most popular tbh, even then he was always full of himself so i can see why people may well find (have found) it difficult to work with him.
I didn't like him then and i don't like him now but that said, i do agree with much of what he says about the game.

Posted ages ago when people were criticising Parish, since Arthur Wait we have been blessed with two crooks and two t***s as Chairman. To be fair to Goldberg he was totally exploited by the football industry and a manager who had already sold the club down the river previously. Jordan saw Goldberg mistakes and was pretty rigid in his transfer dealings probably at the clubs expense in his Premiership season . Nothing but admiration for the pair of them , who wouldn't want to own their club and if I win the Euro millions this week I will be straight down to Selhurst with a wad. As for the other two

Personally feel most people me included can't relate to Jordan and in very simplistic terms see him as a bit of a well to do prat.

Every time I hear him speak I cring.

That's the long and short of it from me and assume others would likely have a similar opinion?

Don't disagree with things he says just can't help but cring every time he speaks. Completely unfairly my next thought is tosser...

The problem with Jordan was he couldn't adapt and expected the whole footballing world to adapt to his idea of how business should work. That was never going to happen.

Parish seems more flexible but again is a palace fan so will at times allow his heart to overrule his head. The freedman appointment is just a recent example.

Still on the whole his done a good job since taking over and the pros of having a fan own the club still far outweigh the cons.

Is there not another thread with the title of parish ruining our identity. Well for the majority of my life our clubs identity has pretty much been a midtable championship club so I'm glad he has.
