I totally understand how you feel. I think back to the days when we had the likes of Wright and Bright and so many other players who we looked on as "our players" and even when we were down there in Division 3 we still went along every match to support them, regardless of whether we won, drew or lost. The point was we were a family.
Fast forward to nowadays. It is not just Palace, we are in an era of players who really don't care too much about the club they are employed by. There is so much money floating around and they will only stick with their current club until an opportunity arises for them to "better themselves". We also have players coming in from all over the world asking for unbelievable money, and of course we also have the agents who are the biggest problem in football in my view. Unbelievable prices are being asked for just ordinary players, e.g. how in hell can the likes of Chamberlain be worth the money that's being asked for him?
I could go on. but unfortunately we are stuck with what we have until we return to sensibility, which could be a long way away. Probably supporters like you and me will continue to drift away but I fear that it will be a long time before we get back to something like normality. That will depend largely on whether Sky will continue or not to feed the fat goose. Surely there must be a time in the future when supporters get fed up with it all?

Dan, I think that's the point... we probably do have the most "talented squad" since I've been watching, certainly the most expensive, but we are absolutely awful, especially at home. That's alienating people. I've seen us win about 2-3 times at home in the last five seasons.

It is with sadness in my heart that I have already decided not to go to the Southampton match as the football, desire & club attitude has finally got to me.

You either back a manager or sack the man but SP & the rest of the senior management/directors must have an awfully long look into the mirror as they are the only ones who appoint the manager

I keep my fingers, toes & anything else I can find crossed that things will change however I have not bet my mortgage on this happening

Feeling very down beat from Sussex

First of all - anybody has the right to stop and start again watching us.

For some people over years what we did before & after the match changes which was all part of going to watch, especially after the match. Defeats may have been moaned about but also laughed about with mates plus other subjects talked about.

Who we watched with and the amount we went with changes.

Lets admit it the thinking 'its not as good as it used to be' easily sets in. I started going in 1977/78 (age 11) but after three seasons it started going wrong. I'm not going to analyse it all from there but in both divisions there has been some poor football played under different managers.

With football clubs its forever changing but you never know when, some clubs' fans from different positions in different leagues don't like what they are watching there would of been some from Chelsea saying/moaning about losing at home to us.

The most frustrating part for me personally is the last 3/4 seasons we've generally had a relegation battle and saved ourselves in the last couple of months.

At the end of each of these seasons i think as fans we've all thought 'next season it's time to push on' bar Pardews first season when we saved ourselves in the first half of the season we've never done that.

Each year we don't seem to progress or learn past lessons, i'll also add each year we seem to have our fair share of bad luck regrading 2 managers who looked like they could push us on but leaving for whatever reasons.

This season has started and it's got that inevitable feeling of 'here we go again' and i personally find it a little embarrassing. Its only 3 games i know, and chelsea lost their first 3 games last year then won the league sooo...

Not sure what my point is or where this post is going but yeah, i get why the OP feels the way he does!

It always amazes me how many fans put forward the argument that 'as long as the payers try hard, Palace fans will be happy'. THE BIGGEST load of nonsense ever. Remember when we had hard working but limited players under Holloway? I don't recall the fans being all happy clappy then.

And strangely the players have always 'not tried' when we lose...crazy coincidence almost like there are other factors at play when deciding the outcome of a match.

Why keep Murray? He didn't want to be on the bench, wasn't going to start so let him go. Plus he could be a right moany bugger at times. Jedinak - agree he should have had a proper send off, but we were pants for 6 months while he played, and he again wanted to keep playing but wasnt going to be first choice. Can't blame us for selling (only not replacing). Bolasie so obviously wanted out it would be madness to have kept him.

Zaha is on equal or near wages to Benteke...so not sure how that would be different.

These threads always come out when we are doing badly... I guess people are naturally pessimistic and nostalgic.

I can't believe anyone who sat through watching Peter Taylor's team can say this is any worse. if you compare it to the promotion season of course its less exciting because we were winning every week!
