Erm at no point did I talk as if we are a top 6 side...

I agreed with the poster, i.e. We have little chance. But have a couple of rays of lights which I listed and then again agreed that a top six side would likely come in and sign him instead.

How you read that as me suggesting we're a top six side. Beyond me.

The 'first team' and 'London' thing is vastly overplayed by the overly optimistic. It's money first, potential/actual level of the club next and everything else a poor third.

There are plenty of people that we were after that preferred supposedly less attractive towns to the joys of London with Sigurdsson being one from a couple of years back

I sometimes wonder if those who are so wedded to the London-centric ideal have ever actually been anywhere else. I have visited cities all over the country, mostly for work, and there's plenty of places, given the right circumstances, I'd prefer to live than within the environs of the big smoke (choke?).

Just depends on the person and their situation. A family man may not desire London but there's been several single footballers who've lived in Canary Wharf, mikes from training but on the tube line and close to lots of attractions. Probably easy for a late night home call as well.

Couldn't disagree more. Ive been to most uk cities, I must admit Edinburgh is lovely, but whenever Ive travelled abroad, ive always compared the cities to London and and always felt London had more going for it.

As a teen I was big on everything America, mostly due to being a movie buff, when I came back from NYC, Chicago, most American cities, I knew nothing quite beat London, but obviously, that's just my opinion.

Its the greatest city in the world. And im far from patriotic.

There is more chance Woy pulling 1 of the Crystals than us signing Tosun so this thread should be locked now.

We had our chance to sign him but Parish was trying to get him on the cheap, pay in small installments & most probably stupid add ons such as playing in Europe next season or a top 6 finish.

Much bigger clubs around Europe will want him in Jan & we have no chance of getting him now!

We need a striker but we don't know how Benteke will perform under Hodgson and Connor is still to come back. We're Crystal Palace, can we actually have a £20m/£30m striker on the bench ?! Everybody is writing Benteke off but the whole team has been poor and he got 17 goals in a relegation threatened side. He's frustrating to watch and he could show more effort but he is a very good striker and I think we are lucky to have him. An unproven bloke from Besiktas is not necessarily the solution.

I might be wrong but i think Roy likes to play two up top. So guess both could get to play.

442 possibly line up like his when all are fit.

Keeper
Ward, Dann, Sakho, Pape
Zaha, Cabaye, Luka, Andros
Tosun, Benteke

Although I like the idea of a front three

443

Keeper
Ward, Dann, Sakho, Pape
Cabaye, Luka, Andros
Zaha, Benteke, Tosun

I'd also take a stab in the dark in that he could likely cover a wing position for Wilf or Andros should either be out. So plenty of options including fighting it out with Benteke for top dog.

Agree, pity though ... he looked a very good prospect.

Yet you're still kidding yourself with formations he could play in for us.

You're not Dougie freedman returning from watching him in Monaco?
