The bit about the training game probably tells us all we need to know that this experiment isn't going to work and ending it sooner rather than later is best.

the article is pretty much spot on to be honest. I hope he proves everyone wrong, a couple of quick fire wins and some good performance against the better sides will help but sadly from what I saw against the swans, I can't see this happening.

We will be 10-15 games down the line before we get rid.

good management is about realising your mistakes and rectifying, so either FDB has to or SP has to.

nice article though, thanks.

It may be harsh...but it's ultimately a fair representation of what we're all seeing.

The appointment took too long and when it turned out to be FdB I was a little baffled. I'm all for playing nicer football, but it was always gonna have to be gradual, as FdB himself said, "Evolution, not revolution".
Then 3-4-3 was mentioned, even though he was known for playing 4-3-3 and that worried me more. We have wingers, we have no wingbacks, but he's football royalty, he ain't stupid, he knows his stuff.
I'll back him as I've backed (nearly) all our managers since 1968, but if he won't help himself he's a fool. He only needs to look at Pep and how long it's taking Klopp to see you can't bring what's successful on the continent into the Premier league and it work overnight.
The only good thing here is any change gives our new guy almost an entire season to get us out of the brown stuff.

It's good to see an article excusing us from sacking him if we do. If the reports get out there of what's been going on then it'll be, and should be reading that and hearing 'gradually' and 'results before style' agreed across the football media and football pundits that Frank bulldozed his way into the sack.

Of course parish takes a heap of blame but there were caveats to this evolution, which turned out to be revolution asap.

Thanks to the OP for taking the trouble to post a very well written article that does indeed sum up the current situation very well. As already mentioned, the outcome of the training games apparently being ignored and the disagreement between the manager and board with respect to transfer targets are very concerning. I think de Boer will have until the next international break to get on track. If he's still really so at odds with the board and players by then he may decide to walk before he's pushed.

I think I'm in the minority that, whilst interesting reading, I thought it a poor article.

Firstly, we didn't play 3-4-3 against Swansea, it was more 5-3-2. At least De Boer saw fit to change things up in the second half and change to a back 4 which seemed to work better.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment that centre back s should be experienced, arguably its the experienced players letting us down and not the 20 year olds. Fosu-Mensah has been very good so far and Riedewald has shown glimpses that he could be a very good player. It has been Dann and in particular Kelly who have been very poor this season. To hold Kelly out as hard done by is laughable. He was responsible for both goals against Swansea and has shown very little since he has been with us to suggest he is even cut out for the Premier League.

As has been mentioned already Campbell was released as his contract expired, prior to De Boer coming on board and most fans last year couldn't wait to see the back of Campbell.

We have largely been undone by individual errors so far, a bit like the beginning of last season. Saying that I accept that we do have some major issues in that we aren't creating enough and don't seem able to retain the ball sufficiently to make the current systems work.

Whilst the article captivates the feeling around Selhurst at the moment I think it is poorly researched. We clearly need more players in certain positions and perhaps De Boer needs to be a little more flexible and less of a purist

It does sound like this has come from a source within the training ground. And doesn't bode well if FDB has lost the dressing room.

It is well written as you'd expect from The Telegraph - prefer The Times myself, Henry Winter, Matthew Syed and Mike Atherton are excellent in my view. However I'd be surprised if our luxuriant one actually hates his manger, SP always seems too nice for that kind of grubby stuff.

The reality is we were caught on the back foot when Big Sam resigned. We went for Silva but he had already had his heart set in Watford.

From there we went for Pellegrino. He was the manager we really wanted. FDB was third choice. Pellegrino was leaning towards saints, time was ticking and we appointed FDB.

Freedman will be interim manager very soon and will do pretty well which will surprise many is my guess. He will then get the job permanently. Watch this space.
