We did not need the 3 centre halves and two wing backs making 5 defenders against 1 Swansea forward.

Playing with wing-backs can be attacking but if the wing-backs get pushed back and the 3 at the back becomes a 5 then of course attacking opportunities can be limited.

Willo , the point is not about exactly what FdB said it is about earning the right from respect and what you have done or achieved in fields of expertise (in this case being a proven prem manager) to be able to criticise players and have no one question you. Frank's whole pre season and first three games , at Palace, which is all we can judge him on so far , have been a total shambles to the novice eye so when he starts to blame and potentially 'upset' the players it will be questioned because some may feel he is a large part of the problem.

Willo , the point is not about exactly what FdB said it is about earning the right from respect and what you have done or achieved in fields of expertise (in this case being a proven prem manager) to be able to criticise players and have no one question you.
Frank's whole pre season and first three games , at Palace, which is all we can judge him on so far , have been a total shambles to the novice eye so when he starts to blame and potentially 'upset' the players it will be questioned because some may feel he is a large part of the problem.

That's how I understood it from watching the game. You'd hope he told them that. I wouldn't expect some footballers to understand it as that even if told so. Intelligence of Eastenders characters some of them. Irrational, don't listen to full sentences, fly off unnecessarily etc.

It's not just that though. Ward is never in a million s0dding facking God damn it Frank years, a wing back. I assume Frank may have assessed this in pre season going by him not playing ward there, it that's a big assumption going by his management thus far.

This is how I've read his approach to us. 'If those top 8 managers are there and they're going 3-4-3 then I will too'. It'll be the undoing of him if he persists. I said it months ago. COYP

Our club has continued to lurch from crisis to crisis ever since the American's invested. Not against the investment per se - all clubs need finance - BUT IMHO it's now created a situation where we have multiple opinions / agendas at the ownership level of the club. SP wants a legacy & as long as he doesn't lose money is OK with a nominal ROI (again my opinion) - he is also a long standing fan (& will know our history) The Yanks want a high profile club to maximise global revenues & ROI Would FdB have been appointed if SP had been in sole charge of the process ??? Would SP have gone for someone more pragmatic but less globally inspiring like Sean Dyche ?? Who knows, but I'm fairly confident that the ownership current status quo will not end well for us.

Interesting perspective on our American friends. I was very underwhelmed when they announced the 50M investment. The two teams they are associated with (Flyers and 76ers) have excelled in mediocrity for years. Since I live in Canada, I get to see the Flyers regularly and its not very impressive or exciting compared to those teams investing and building a winning formula. These two operators are not the kind of folk I would have chosen as investors who would support a winning team. I wonder if they have more say or force in the conversation than their equity would suggest they should. Apparently they are not shy to express their views and of course they are soccer experts! Board shenanigans we will not see - but I wonder what is going on in those transatlantic calls.

Interesting perspective on our American friends. I was very underwhelmed when they announced the 50M investment. The two teams they are associated with (Flyers and 76ers) have excelled in mediocrity for years. Since I live in Canada, I get to see the Flyers regularly and its not very impressive or exciting compared to those teams investing and building a winning formula. These two operators are not the kind of folk I would have chosen as investors who would support a winning team. I wonder if they have more say or force in the conversation than their equity would suggest they should. Apparently they are not shy to express their views and of course they are soccer experts! Board shenanigans we will not see - but I wonder what is going on in those transatlantic calls.
