Well actually... There is a free agent on the market right now by the name of Marouane Chamakh.

Another farcical transfer window. We saved a few million on Sakho with the possible loss of 9 points as a result of waiting until the last minute. We signed no striker and no goalkeeper.

We are in trouble.

To not have signed another striker is neglect.

We're a premier league club aren't we? (For now anyway). While money isn't unlimited surely we have enough to have picked someone up as cover?

This is incompetence.

F***ing shambles. No deal identified for a goalkeeper until what, half an hour before the window shut? Seriously? And then we were too pi**ed to fill in the forms and fax them off. Dropped the Niasse signing because of a clerical matter and stuck with one senior striker for half a season as a result.

Unless I suppose we can pull a free agent rabbit out of the hat. Fat chance. At least we still have two senior keepers, but FFS.

Competing at football at this level is hard enough without hampering ourselves with stupid mistakes and pi**-poor planning.

Total incompetence which has left us one injury from disaster.

This pretty much sums it up for me.

Every transfer window that goes by we don't address the postions we need cover for. There doesn't seem to be any planning by the club and everything gets done in a rush and at the last minute. It's almost like the transfer window closing catches us by surprise every time.

I'm pleased with Sakho but from what I've heard he's a few weeks away from being ready, has FDB really been backed by the club? Not for me.

If Benteke gets injured we're fooked.

I think this has been a poor window. The squad in weaker and not getting a striker and goalkeeper really concerning. Get deals done even a day or two earlier. Something isn't working when we're constantly up against the deadline for THREE signings.

It just seems that palace & premiership are not a good marriage, I know it's our 5th year up here, and each season I think this season we just might establish ourselves at last and have a comfortable season, but this transfer window has done little to confirm my wishes, very early days until a " divorce" of course, but with the striker situation not sorted I'm not that confident of a stress free season yet again.

Getting these deals done isn't always our fault - other Clubs play silly buggers as well!
However - we are in trouble if Benteke gets injured plus he has no competition - unless Wickham is nearly ready - an answer I don't have??

Out until January apparently...

For me its not just that we have no cover, its also that there's now absolutely no pressure on Benteke...criminal!!

Premier level players that can play centre back for us:
1. Sakho
2. Dann
3. Tomkins
4. Riederwald
5. Mensah
6. Kelly
7. Delaney

Premier level players that can play up front:
1. Benteke

Premier level players that can play in goal:
1. Hennessy
2. At a push, Speroni

Premier level players that can play on wing:
1. Zaha
2. Townsend
3. Schlupp

Premier level players that can play centre mid:
1. Cabaye
2. Luka
3. RLC
4. Puncheon
5. MacArthur

Glad we signed 3 centre backs and a centre mid as we're clearly covered in all other positions

Not sure about that, think we can sign a free agent.

Nope. FIFA changed rules- we had to do loans in window as well. Also, we have to announce our 25 squad today so unless we don't announce a full squad or a player on a free is under 21, we can't play them until January either.

This article explained it to me:
