No I wouldn't think so, the constant change of management since he took over is ridiculous. We haven't made one good appointment that has been successful and long term. Our only two good appointments have left after half a season (Sam and Pulis). The rest have all been sacked..... I like him as a business man for saving out club and making sure money is invested in the right places but football wise he doesn't know what he is doing. I guess SP would argue that appointing Freedman is his answer to having someone in place to take care of football matters and leave him to the business side. Trouble is, Freedman is pretty inexperienced himself and just sends out the wrong signals.

Say it was 50-50, having the prospect of a season with only 2 new players when we lost a lot more than that probably tipped the balance. It's the old saying 'the straw that broke the camel's back'. We all know something minor like a straw can't break a camel's back but it can be the pivotal factor. So not 'because of lack of funds' then. Maybe a contributory factor. You're not as sure as you were hours ago then.

It's not about daring to dream but smoothing out a lot of the bad mistakes, scouting players in advance to save ourselves enough to get close to 2 players per position, lowering the wage bill and not having to sign big transfer players to cover up the mistakes. Frank said all the right things to achieve this but then set about trying to change us from playing to our strengths to something too many of the players are not. I'm talking about the 3/5 at the back and for the 1st 2 home games playing the ball about which we can't do without our full strength team available. Then I think we could.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Had he been able to I think he would have felt he could have had a less stressful time as manager this season. It's the domino effect which would put him under stress which would cause friction at home and so on. Money/players was the issue. I don't know if you saw The Debate on Sky 2 nights ago when Allardyce was on there but he said Parish asked him if he wanted Sakho an hour or so before the window closed and he was instrumental in organising the defensive training.

Out of interest do you think it was a case of FdB agreeing with Parish to get the job or him actually saying what Parish wanted to hear that convinced Parish to give him the job?

Funny, the link you posted wasn't a transcript. The quote I found was: "But, Allardyce, speaking to talkSPORT presenter Jim White this morning, has revealed he made the decision before the game with Hull that he would step down from his post. "Palace owner Steve Parish had no idea and wouldn't find out until after the final day at Manchester United." If you watch Sky Allardyce was on The Debate this week and made a brief mention of it too. I watched it this morning. How long are we going to go on about this for? Blackadder always called Percy a berk) I was being somewhat ironic when I wrote that because I've been accused of being a dreamer, arrogant and so on for saying I expected us to beat teams like WBA and Bournemouth at home last season. Apparently I am a dreamer for thinking we should beat such teams.
