Not sure anyone will care, but it's worth pointing out that Stoke didn't get a result until November last season and lost 4-1 at Selhurst to us and ended up finishing 9th, which is excellent. Proof if you ever needed it that sometimes it's worth backing the manager - I honestly don't think he's nearly as stupid as some make him out to be.

Hopefully not. As Bexleydave says, more likely arrogance or bloody mindedness than stupidity, possibly some naivety thrown in to wash it all down.

I'd prefer it they kept things confidential now, let results and performances do the talking. The international break will cool things down a bit if Frank doesn't leave during it.

Question is guys, what makes good manager?

Some people are saying FdB is a good manager because he won the title 4 times at Ajax. Do we think Brendan Rogers is a good manager for winning the title with Celtic? The PSG manager?

You get my point, a very good team with little or no competition.

He failed miserably at Inter though I've heard it wasn't his fault but they were still a shambles.

So why is FdB though of as a good manager?

The only answer I can come up with it is because of his playing career. Same problem followed Bryan Robson.

I really think that Parish may have held back on transfers or maybe not been so keen with half a mind to see how we go until January and whether FdB is still in charge. Also very much inclined to believe the lack of transfer funds being acceptable to FdB school of thought.

This could all yet implode but whilst I still maintain that the early season disasters were based on a lack of footballing knowledge from all sides and we have embarrassed ourselves further in the transfer market there is indeed hope.

I sincerely hope the time has come for harsh but necessary talks to take place and perhaps FdB might come up with some answers that actually address our issues and we start playing effective football rather than fanciful tactics and if not he'll get the tin tac.

FdB will no his head is on the block so hopefully we see a pragmatic man fighting for his job and not the persistence of a clueless fool. As much anger as I have towards him ATM I would genuinely like to see FdB succeed with us, could mean a bright future. I will add as a pessimistic comment however something that I haven't really seen on here:

Although FdB was undoubtedly a very good and successful player and maybe enjoyed some success as a manager with Ajax, has anyone ever really had any evidence or ever heard him say anything that has inspired them to believe he is a good manager, tactician, footballing philosopher etc?? I haven't!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think winning it 4 years in a row after failing to win it 7 years prior, whilst integrating young players such as Alderwereld, Erikssen etc. is the sign of a very good manager. Ajax and Celtic are different, there is more competition to win the title in Holland, as the 7 years prior and years since he left would suggest. A good manager for a weak PL side is another question but I think if it hadn't been for the Inter stint, bigger clubs would've rightly or wrongly been after him and if he is to progress us he would need time regardless. My stance has always been that once he was hired I'd back him as a supporter, as I see it pointless trying to undo an appointment when 1. We had all summer to get it right 2. A change in style will inevitably necessary at some point, we've got away with the "palace way" up until now, make no mistake about that.

Today I keep reading that Steve Parish is going to sit down with Frank and have a serious talk about our rigid playing style in the next few days. I cant see how Steve can't see how that he should shoulder most of blame for the playing style we have adopted, He appointed Frank unless he is total fantasy land i am sure this was done with the knowledge of his philosophy of football & playing styles. I think he needs to take a long look at some of his decisions over the past few years and be honest with himself, Always someone to blame or an excuse, It might work in the Business world of computing etc. But not in Football, I have the utmost respect for what he has achieved, But at least admit that he has fcuked p big time over the past few seasons and learn by his mistakes.

yet another Troll posting with no actual facts and a repeat of the other 150 other threads on a pointless topic. Go and find another manager, doubt if Benitez would bother if our checkbook is looking smaller than Newcastle by the day --- unlikely

Wow Majorkaios - your making it personal, Everyone has opinions on here unfortunately for most here you also have one. I think the best option is for you to maybe take a minute to reflect on where we are and why.Just for a minute abandon the SP fan club and take a less warped view of whats really happening at our club. This place is seems full of smug ass--le's

So let's get this correct. majorkaios calls you a troll posting with no facts and an intelligence level lower than the average Millwall supporter. I stick up for you and get called a founder member of the SP fan club by you for my pains.

Perhaps majorkaios was right

Factually not correct.

Last season Stoke did lose 4-1 to us which was in their 5th league game but this was in September. They then went on to get 10 pts in their next 5 games and finished the season in 13th place.

So certainly got a result before November and they never finished 9th !

Point was that I was discrediting the facts about Stoke as I was convinced that they were incorrect and certainly someone on here took them at face value.

But kindly thank that person in the pub on my behalf for the statistic.
