Dann Sakho Tomkins/Kelly/Riedewald at the back Fosu Mensah and Van Arnholt wing backs Luka and Loftus Cheek in the middle Townsend Benteke Wilf up top. What we've lacked so far with that formation is a leader at the back. We've just bought one, a player who can play the ball, read the game and inspire confidence in the rest of the side. It also frees up Fosu Mensah to take Ward's place, who's looked the weakest of all in this formation. In the middle we'd have two dominant midfielders who can put it about while the front three have more freedom to roam. Everyone in that side is comfortable on the ball, and I think we'd have the solidity which would allow the front players to feel free to cause damage. Obviously it's unlikely to happen now there's so much pressure to change. I think it's worth a go though. We've definitely got stronger options to play 343 now with Sakho (albeit when fit). However Cabaye should be in the team and a 451/4141/4231 formation with him partnered with RLC and Luka sitting is clearly stronger than any 343 lineup we can put together IMO. I'd also rather have Schlupp at left back but there's not too much to choose between him and PVA. Edited by samprior (01 Sep 2017 5.07pm)

First team looks solid without injuries. Which is something for us to cling too! Right back I'd say Fosu-Mensah should be tried there, I believe this is a position he's used to? Ward as back up. With Wan-Bissaka back up to Fosu if we're playing right wing back roles.
