This was a mismanaged and unprepared transfer window. They bought Sakho strictly to silence the fan base. They think the fans will be satisfied because they brought back their hero. Unfortunately he isn't playing until October at best. If we are planning to be in that second tier, we have to get our stuff together. Firing a manger three games into a season isn't the answer either. The fans booing every backwards pass isn't helping either, every damn team in the division does it.

Frank wants to build a program that is sustainable by bringing youth players along and actually play football, which sometimes means you have to reset and recycle. It is just another way to start a counter by pulling a player out of position. The problem to me has looked like a lack of commitment and courage. They didn't want the ball against Liverpool or Swansea. I didn't see us trying to play Ajax football in either game. Most possession started with Hennessey booting it 60 yards and Palace trying to win a knockdown. The main problem has been we don't win the ball back or press together in midfield.

What can I say - Jordon Mutch still here. Several clubs showed interest, why didn't somebody drive him to Burton, Leeds or Birmingham and say: "Here he is!" and get whatever they paid - at least to cover for petrol.

The point in your post concerning Sakho is revealing. Although he is a Palace hero, for the moment, and may have been bought to assuage the frustrations of the terraces, this is not the complete picture.
There can be no denying he was almost single-handedly responsible for Palaces recovery last season. He has been capped and he is tenacious. And this is not a last minute buy. Palace have been chasing Sakho for longer than the window.
But there are concerns. He doesn't do the modern defender thing, as last season proved. Liverpool obviously don't trust him to do that job. He is injury prone and he will not play until October. Is this injury too?
The rest of your comments are succinct and good. Palace need to change from a club who will forever just scramble for safety points, to a class affair. And Palace need to take the game back to its English roots and develop our own. There's no good reason why someone born on these shores should nt be able to play the modern game as well as any other foreigner.

The less said about Puncheon the better.Made 'Captain' !!!!!

As for Cabaye he has not had the effect that was expected when we signed him for a variety of reasons (Injury etc) so his influence has not met expectations.Yes he shows his quality in glimpses but overall it isn't enough.

Agree with Puncheon. But cabaye makes a huge difference when he plays. Look how the game changed when he came on saturday. He is probably the one player who 'passes and moves' something you have to do if you want to play possession football. Neil some of the others do it, well get nowhere.

Sam got the best out of Cabaye.
All Frank needs to do is set up the team as Sam did against Liverpool or Arsenal and we will be fine.
Plus he has Rubens,Tim and Jairo to use if he Sees fit.
If he doesn't Frank will be gone at Christmas.

SP has a record of backing his managers so I can't understand why he hasn't recruited the players FdB had said he wanted - primarily GK, striker & CB. The CB he has bought is the one that FdB repeatedly said was too expensive. The way I read it was that the manager wanted a cheaper CB so that more could be invested in other areas.
The comments and body language in SP's interview in the early hours yesterday suggested that all is not well between CEO & manager and I wouldn't be at all surprised if FdB leaves before the Burnley game or, if not, soon after.

Did the loan fall through at the same time as the Niasse deal? I.e. One in one out or no move?

None of us know who did our didn't have a good window at this moment. It will be down the line that we find out how many Jordon Mutch's have been signed this time. None of us know how the window works or the budgets of the clubs or who's breaking FFP rules, if anybody?
For all we know we may have been talking to 4 players who all wanted 4 year 65k a week contracts and our negotiating team were worried we may end up with a new bunch of Chunky, Sakho, Mutch's which would hinder us down the line. Problem is the three I mentioned were championship gambles that didn't pay off. Good players but not quite prem standard. Now there are probably plenty of championship clubs that would like these players, but they just can't afford their wages? Unfortunately for us these types of players are well within their rights to sit tight, as we probably all would.
Us, West Ham and Bournemouth all picked up three player's early and did practically nothing else and we don't know why? Maybe the price of targets went up massively once the Neymar deal was done? This scuppered any chance of other deals because of FFP, who knows. Personally I think all three have got players in that are good enough for the prem and will help them out this season. Like I said earlier how many Jordon Mutch, Ravel Morrison's have been signed?

I'm hoping Riedwield will turn out to be a good signing all though he did look way out of his depth. Could go either of two ways for him. Either not up to the Prem pace or after some time to adjust will be good. Time will tell on that one.

The two loan signings look class.

Sakho is a born leader of men. The whole squad wanted him back and that'll give us a lift even if he's injured.

I read a few days ago he was PSG's youngest captain of the first team. Aged 17!

My gut says we wanted to spend upto £15m on a striker and that didn't happen but and again only through click bait rumours may or may not be true but it did seem we showed interest in, Munir, Burke, the Turkish guy and no doubt others.. one reason or another we failed on that front and I doubt the club are happy about it.

Prices of keepers has gone through the roof this window possibly more than any other position and frankly it's not a surprise we've not spent big on one. That being said it is a let down that we've not managed to tie up a loan or cheap third choice option from somewhere.

So three positives, one unknown and two failures.

A mixed window but it would seem we're getting better at only letting quality join. I expect the club has learnt and is very concious of not letting deadwood join the wage bill.

According to Observer we're tenth highest spending club this window. If the Niasse deal had been completed we'd have been 7th highest.
