Motty gave us a lot of praise following the 1990 semi (I taped it while going to Villa Park). Brian Moore always said the 1990 Palace 4-3 Wombles match in 1990 was one of the best he ever broadcast and took the papers to task for predicting a 0-0 bore draw with the physios getting the most work.

Tomorrow is the last broadcast for John Motson after nearly 50 years. The club will be issuing some souvenir programmes to celebrate the occasion.

Wouldn't it be good if we had a chant in the 72min [his age] along the lines "there's only one John Motson " or Motty Motty give us a wave" etc. Anyway just a thought for the best fans in the premier!

Today's list of fixtures have a an unusual look to them. Every club is playing and kicking-off at the same time.

When Motty stated out that was the norm. Thought I'd just mention that nugget of interest.

.....and the officials always wore black and the goalies green jerseys.

I would hope to hear the crowd chant at some point during the radio broadcast,..."Motty, give us a wave,....Motty, Motty, give us a wave"

And a sheepskin-clad figure rises from the commentary box and waves to the crowd,..

Probably won't happen now I've jinxed it.
