I also wish to add my virtue signaling to the pile and hope that all that can be done to reduce the impact of these natural disasters is done. As was quite rightly stated earlier in the the thread piece, these are people from other countries but we have historical connections to them as well as our general humanitarian commitments as a civilised nation.

We had a freak downpour ... about 30 minutes of heavy sheet rain and howling winds on Saturday afternoon and although obviously nothing like the conditions in the Caribbean it was a stark reminder of how vulnerable we all are to the weather and how quickly it can change. I feel for the poor souls out there and hope they get the help they need quickly.
