I know and I agree. I heard the funny story about the Polish tradesmen complaining they were going to be undercut by Romanians.

Many lefties and politicians don't care. Who cares if they make the wages they've driven down work with double, triple and quadruple or more the amount of people in any dwelling.

What you need is the ability to form co operatives of architects builders and tradesmen who get contracts to build on local authority land. f*** off with the super construction companies with their s***e pay and conditions, they're the ones bringing in the cheap labour labour from abroad. Be honest if you were offered x amount of times what you can get here abroad, many would consider it.
Local people working on local projects, no more identikit estates. Consult with the public on what sort of building they want. Once built, Charge a reasonable rent, so lower income next generation family groups can stay close, which goes towards more projects, a dividend for those wot worked on the site. I don't know what the markup is in a new build but it must be a fair few quid. If they're sold, then the people who built them should reap some rewards for their endeavours.

I'm sure that pay would be higher as well without having shareholders and ceo's etc taking their slice.

It's not rocket science is it? But can you see this being allowed to happen.

That is not the case at all Nick.

People come here looking for work who are then employed by construction companies- they are not brought here by constructions companies.

In my view we need to be....as Cameron originally promised, reducing immigration down to the tens of thousands...well, even a reverse is needed, for a time, to be frank.

Demographically, we need less religious people in general. Of the religious people we take, more Jews, Christians and and less Muslims. Of the secular people we take we need more secular Jews and non religious Asians....In fact, I'm happy to take non criminal secular people of any description if they fulfill a need here and have commitment.

There has been continuous net emigration of British citizens since at least 1991. This isn't good. It's an implicit criticism that this country has had a slide in the quality of life it offers across the board, in my view.

I've attached an image showing the migration/emigration flow for Britain from 90 to 2016. It shows the dramatic affect that EU enlargement had on the country....a decision so impacting on so many areas that it was almost criminal to have allowed.

What 'intelligent' immigration policy would others enact?

The major reason why British citizens are emigrating and being replaced by those from poorer countries is because of the type of job market on offer for most.

Wages are being squeezed, contracts are precarious and security in general more scarce. Clearly, we need to sort this out, as it is the primary issue when we're dealing with migration, because it is driving the migrants themselves.

Economics. The current regime decides that neoliberal ideology should still drive our decisions. Change this and you could assure greater security, control and motivation in all those who are working, regardless of where they're from. This is intelligent immigration policy.

So...that's more secular Jews, less religious Asians, maybe some Scientologist South Americans, a few Capricorn Australasians, some ginger North Americans who sing 'I am the one and only' at karaoke?
