I think you mean the ideals of multiculturalism as professed by progressive movements of the late 90 - All societies exist as a series of conflicting cultural ideas. Arguably Communism and Fascism are religions (replacing fact with faith), of course they lasted less than 100 years. Monotheistic religions (which are the real problem) are clocking in at around 1800 years of justification for some really horrible s**t.

What am I missing? What am I supposed to be outraged about? "most of the deaths occurred between 1870 and 1930" and there seems to be no suggestion there is anything dodgy about them, or anything untoward going on except bad record keeping! "Nuns in 'not very good at paperwork' shocker!"

It's much easier to just have a go at religion in general and Catholics in particular in this case, without thinking that the alternative to a children's home with nuns would probably have been starvation, child prostitution or death, because no-one else in society would have or did give a damn about them.

I think a fair few kids back in those days would have been wanted, especially those sent to Australia to those lovely Catholic Boys and Girls homes, but if you were young and from a broken home or your mum was unmarried then the state/the church could snatch you from your relatives no matter how caring they may be and put you into the system. The issue here is how did some of the 400 kids die under the care of The Order in question. I have very little doubt some would have been murdered/manslaughter'd by a vicious nun or twenty or visiting priest.

Oh, come on becky. You know how austere and brutal some of those kids' places could be. It's not normal to find a grave with 400 children in it and unmarked at that in a religious institution. Deffo worth investigating.
