Our away record this season is amazing. I would say home performances on the whole have been better than results suggest. Home defeats to Brighton and Watford don't help perception though, and some games like at home to Chelsea really were frustrating. Towards the end of last season, when we had RLC, some of our home games were great e.g 5-0 demolition of Leicester. I think this highlights that when he has the right blend of players at his disposal he can get his teams playing attractive, attacking football. I would also point to his time at Fulham. He arrived when they were really struggling, made a few good signings, and then guided them to 7th. And then to the final of the Europa league the following season. They played some great football. Not bad for a 'safe pair of hands' He hasn't particularly been backed in the transfer market since arriving, apart from Max, so he's done what he's done with the same squad that he inherited plus a couple of loans. If (and I guess that's a big IF) he sticks around for another couple of seasons, I'm hopeful that we can do more than just survive. Edited by DeVito (09 May 2019 2.57pm)

Yes some fair points I’m well aware of. It’s just how many times I’ve watched at Selhurst and seen Roy not utilise the bench or divert from plan A and settle for the 0-1 home loss. I completely understand why he’s here, and I don’t want him out, unless of course Parish has someone marvellous lined up, which will never happen. It’s just frustrating watching 60-70 minutes of football you know what will happen. Nothing.

My take on Hodgson is that he is a percentage manager. He has found a formula that works more often than not and he believes in that and sticks to it. Occasionally it is annoying as we should roll over lesser sides and we don't always do. However on balance he has brought stability and a system and that the players appear to believe in. When I was a manager I appreciated the people who turned up on time and put in a shift. I was never a fan of the lone maverick who disappears when you need them and every now and then does something great. I suspect that is how Roy manages the team he will forgive a player within reason if they put in a shift and play within the system as he has asked them. It is to his credit that he is also able to accommodate a mercurial talent like Zaha. Overall he has been a positive for Palace. Edited by Badger11 (09 May 2019 3.36pm)

Is he having any input in the transfer signings, never really comments, or transfer policy for the last 3 years has been pathetic, if Derby dont win promotion, Frank Lampard could be a good choice, if change is needed Edited by DeVito (09 May 2019 2.57pm)

Have to say personally up until relatively recently I was in the camp of I would probably like to see a change. The home form has been abysmal, it’s been a tough watch at Selhurst all season. The subs thing and his unwillingness to change bugs me.. but what you can’t do is argue with the final result. Our points tally and league position is a very good achievement. Yet it could have been much more.. He can certainly be considered a safe pair of hands. Yesterday was encouraging. He’s got to be given next season. Edited by MonsterMunch (13 May 2019 12.51pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Change of heart' by Midlands Eagle my worry is that with Zaha and others likely leaving in the summer, we will have a decent amount of money to spend, the sort money that should shape the first 11 for the next few years. I just don't trust Roy to invest it in the sort of talent that is going to move us on as a football club. He's with us for one more year so that's as far as he's planning.
