Fair enough.

I just strongly disagree with people who claim someone is not allowed to say Roy is s*** without personally having his replacement lined up.

If that was my job and I worked at he club, then it would be a fair question.

Wolves and Soton spring to mind.

Southampton's new manager was featured recently on the BBC football site. Yes he has done a good job since he took over as in the 16 games since he did Saints have 24 points and, based on that over those 16 games Saints would be 7th in the league. However another team and manager matched that points total to be eighth in the EPL over those 16 games, his name being Roy Hodgson and, of course, the team being Crystal Palace.

Rather makes your statement that Roy is sh**e rather pathetic because, if you are right so is the Soton manager you keep eulogising about. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Good man. Great post. I am sick and tired of people slating Roy and saying saints manager is great and Eddie Howe is great, Dyche is the marvelous, Wagner is top drawer. Have these fools no acccess to the league table.
We will finish where we deserve to finish at the end of the season and that wont be relegation. At this present moment the best we can ask for is between 10th to 14th.

To all eagles saying if not Roy then who? Well how did other teams get progressive managers. Brighton. Watford. Wolves. Soton. If Roy is not retired it’s going to be the end of the distinct cpfc brand.
Roy did well to keep us up last season. We returned the favor by keeping him. Now it’s time to move on. In the premier league there is no such thing as mid table safety as a strategy. It will only lead to stagnation and eventual relegation. It’s an up or out competition.
“Everything has its effing time and place; It’s time now for Roy to GO”

A lot of folk thought FDB was a progessive manager. Chris Hughton is not a progressive manager he plays to his strenghts and his aim is to survive in the PL.

It is not Roy's fault that we have missed sitters in so many games and that our players can't pass the ball 10 yards. We should easily be at least 6 points better off this season which would put us level with West Ham in 11th.

Would that make everyone happy??

Id rather be us than Everton and West Ham who have spent an absolute fortune and are only sitting a few points ahead of us in the table.

You do know that Brighton are currently below us in the table and that Brighton fans are saying that they want Hughton out. You also do not seem to realise that Soton's record under their new Manager is no better than ours over the period since he came in and they' re still below us in the table.

If you enjoy the Hodgson brand of football, good luck to you.

It is boring, gutless and turgid stuff half the time.

Our home form is a joke.

We played long ball yesterday to our worst target man/hold up player and had 1 shot on target in the entire game. We had no out ball.

This was evident early in proceedings, but he changed nothing.

After we went a goal down, he changed nothing.

Once we were 2 down, with 10 mins left, he had a go.

If you enjoy that/think its the best we can do, Penge Eagle, then I say good luck to you mate.

We can do better than this brand of football with these players. Am I willing to take a chance, get a manager in with some balls, and suffer relegation next year? At this stage, I sure am. Anything but this boring, negative, defeatist crap.

Also I was not eulogizing about the Saints manager. I was stating that no one had heard of him before he was hired, which is an entirely different discussion. He is a fine manager, point is no Saints fans had heard of him before he was hired, therefore dont tell me I cannot want Roy gone without having a name lined up.

As another poster has said, Brighton do not have a progressive manager in Chris Hughton. I live deep in ' enemy territory ' and I can tell you that there are similar accusations made by their fans towards him as ours do towards Hodgson.

We didn't return any favours by keeping Roy on. He earned it based upon what he achieved last season.

'' End of the distinct CPFC brand '' - what does that even mean ?

Mid table safety is not a strategy. It's the race to what used to be 40 points but typically less now. Get to that, see where you are and go on from there. You can spend £100m and still only reach upper mid table.

I would like to read what your realistic proposals are to avoid the '' stagnation '' that you refer to. And I'll be happy to ensure that they are forwarded to Steve Parish so as to steer him in the right direction.

Over to you....

This is the key for more and I completely agree with you. I pay for a season ticket and more than just money, it takes time and effort to get to the game and it has a detrimental affect on happiness if your Team lose.

People think there's either 'enjoy football as a game' or 'kick the wife around and cry all weekend' but there is a middle ground which is what I see most weeks of fans walking down the Holmesdale, moaning to their friends or partner, angry at wasting their time, having missed something better in a lot of cases.

Palace having a good go and winning is fantastic, the best feeling. Worth every penny. Palace having a good go and losing is fine and part and parcel of not being Man City.

Watching 3 home wins all season with crap football is NOT okay under any circumstnaces.

If that's all we can offer up next season then relegate us now and I'll enjoy the Championship and the wins that come with it.

There are several people that would rather be in the Championship, do not misconstrue I am one of them. I strongly believe that replacing Roy and having a 'bloody good go' will see us rise up the table much faster than we are now, with little investment in the squad required (provided we don't lose Zaha and AWB).

In that case, we could get Alan Pardew back. I'm sure this group of players would thrive on his expansive football.

Good to hear you're willing to take the chance of getting relegated. I'm sure that Steve Parish and the other owners will be delighted that you think they should risk their investment for the sake of a few places higher up the league.

And if you're willing to accept relegation, well then clearly you will enjoy seeing the team lose on a more regular basis than they do at present.

This season has been a disappointment, no two ways about it. And last night's performance and tactical decisions were too. I think Roy made mistakes last night. But he gets it right more often than he gets it wrong, which is why I continue to support him.

If the only notion that comes to mind for replacing Roy with a less timid and gutless manager is Pardew, then you might have a job as an adviser to Steve Parish on the cards.

I am not talking about getting a new manager in to finish a few places higher in the league.

I am talking about getting a new manager in to change the brand of football we are putting out.

I used Pardew as a recent example of what happened the last time there was an attempt to change the brand of football. I'm sorry if you were unable to deduce that. I'll ignore the FDB debacle.

So you want a different brand of football and results are secondary, is that it ?

Allow me to quote myself from earlier:

We can do better than this brand of football with these players. Am I willing to take a chance, get a manager in with some balls, and suffer relegation next year? At this stage, I sure am. Anything but this boring, negative, defeatist crap.

My answer is yes.

We are treading water in the league with some top quality players, far better than the teams around us.

Our home form is a joke.

Roy is timid, gutless, negative and defeatist. That brings results! We are staying up, I understand that. I am just sick and tired of the negative approach.

Regarding Pardew as a recent example of trying a more expansive brand, there were clues in Pardew's earlier career which might have alerted a more astute chairman to how foolish that was.

Speaking of foolish chairmen, then we have FDB.

We need to get the right manager in, which lets be honest Parish is s***e at. Even the sun shines on a dogs ass sometimes though.

Roy wont be here beyond next year anyway, then we will be forced to grow a pair, show some ballstrength, and hire a new manager anyway.

I would move him out now, and get a new manager in during the offseason who is not so negative and defeatist.

That is called being proactive, rather than reactive.
