It looks like Croydon boy Roy Hodgson set to take over on a 2 year deal. He had a long industrious career. Some success at wba and Fulham. Some disaster at Liverpool and England. My concern is he too out of touch he's 70 ffs. All this talk of stability and we turn to another short term appointment. Now if we went for moyes, younger also knows the league. He also has a tarnished record with Man Utd was too big for him and Sunderland were a disaster club anyway. Sunderland have been waiting to be relegated for the last 4 years. Look at the squad moyes had available at Sunderland. Nothing to work with. Yet if you get the Everton David moyes the one that was one of the longest serving managers, provide the stability that we crave. Both Roy Hodgson and David moyes have tarnished reputation but who's a better choice?

Dilemmas ?

Ask any Sunderland fan what they think of Moyes. He announced they were in a delegation battle after two games while the window was still open. Not the most positive message. It went downhill from there. There is no dilemma, Hodgson isn't ideal but Moyes would be worse.

The club was in a mess before he arrived.

He was only being realistic. The club was/is in a complete mess.

No question about that but the consensus on their forum is that he inherited a team from Sam that was showing promise and promptly dismantled it by bringing in several of his ex Everton cronies who were well past their sell by date. I have a mate who is (correction was) a long term season ticket holder so I follow their fortunes quite closely.

They are a basket case of a club but Moyes made matters worse with dodgy recruitment and constant negativity.

Obviously we shouldn't take everything fans say on a forum as gospel (!) but the weight of opinion against Moyes is absolutely overwhelming and was long before they actually got relegated.

Moyes was being realistic but that wasn't the appropriate way of managing his team.

Manage expectations with your board - tell them to expect a relegation fight, in private. Don't announce it to the media.

We could do worse. But we could do a lot better. And Hodgson probably is the better option.

My god you are bunch of old moaners. Probably the same fans piping up about Roy want pick Zaha. Roy never selected him for England tournament so he'll play puncheon instead. Honestly get a grip.

You start a thread moaning about Hodgson and pining for David Moyes of all people, then call everyone pointing out Moyes' dismal failures moaners?
