I am a bit underwhelmed by the appointment, but I cannot help but think that here is a manager that will be superb at bringing the team together. Moreover, he will create the right atmosphere in the dressing room.

I for one am looking forward to seeing some heroic performances.

We're on the march.

So we now have a Palace fan as manager, another one as captain plus most of the Holmesdale Online.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

What makes me laugh is how everyone starts with 'time to get behind the new manager and the team' blah blah.

If he's not doing well in a month you'll all be groaning at every backwards pass or every shot that doesn't end up in the back of the ne, and this site will be full of Roy Out threads getting merged daily.

Endless cycle right now, let's hope Roy is a keeper.

Good luck Roy let's hope you can turn our fortunes around.

Not the most exciting of appointments but come on Palace fans give him a chance. At least he will hopefully get the basics right.

I think this is the best we could hope for in our present situation, and I'm fairly confident we'll reach 40 points with Roy in charge (barring some catastrophic injuries). Pretty sure he'll set us up optimally, play some functional football, and looking at our squad that's good enough for survival.

I'll be absolutely delighted if we get two seasons of utterly boring stability under Hodgson - it's what we bloody need.

I wonder if he'll fill the 25th spot in the squad and if so will it be a keeper or striker?

After watching his first interview at Selhurst tonight I am quite happy with his appointment as he seems to know what he has to do and is ready to get on the training ground with the players. I would think SP has had a good long chat with Roy over the past couple of weeks and each knows where the club is going and that will not be down I am certain of that. The team will be back in the right set up and play as we know they can. It is in all our interests to back him and give all the support to team on Saturday that we can and give the lads the encouragement they surely need to get back to winning ways.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.
