Michael, whatever I am, I can comfort myself that I am not a fifty something who has imaginary friends.

And therein lies your problem. You don't know.

Japan - where workers don't even know if they are going to get paid and have no redress if they don't. Japan - where stress levels are extreme and 80hr working weeks common. Japan - where the sexualisation of children is everywhere and where it was legal to view child p***.graphy until 2015. Japan - where communities don't really exist anymore and a third of single women live in poverty which means abortion rates are nearly twice that of the UK.

My Japanese brother-in-law is a lot less stressed working and living in London than he was working and living in Tokyo.

Yes I caught 5 mins of Stacey Dooley's usual expose of such exploitation. Was t aware of that but recognised the weird cartoons pictures of children they have everywhere. Isn't suggestive child p***.graphy still legal? Like a semi naked child and man? I could go further on what the child is doing but it's sick. The guy legitimising child p*** in his p*** shop was something else. He appeared completely normal. Just a 30 year old guy you'd see at a sports event.

I watched it until I saw the police visibly protecting the guys touting schoolgirls on that busy open street. Fvcked up.

Can't the pair of you bitch at each other via PM rather than derailing another thread?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Must admit, I love me some Anime.

Child p***.graphy has been illegal in Japan since 1945, and the 'new laws' relate to legal technicalities relating to possession of child p***.graphy. People have however been convicted of possession of child p***.graphy in Japan, under things like obscene publications laws.

Although anime, manga and hentai, being cartoons, are outside of the scope of these laws.

Quite reasonably, manga and anime which doesn't actually feature real people or children, isn't covered by the laws relating to child p***.

In truth, I'd have no problem with pedophiles jacking off to cartoons and animated children, if it meant they weren't actually raping children etc.

It'll end in tears. It always does.

Then how comes Japan has been amongst the four richest countries by GDP for decades?

Have you watched the video? Their debt levels are going down.....Normally I'd agree with you but western countries have a different set up it appears.

I don't know exactly why Japan are being successful...the government is buying its debt and then cancelling it.....Maybe someone here can explain why this isn't destroying them economically.

Umm,here's what Newsweek had to say about Japan's non fractured society you recommend we emulate:

"Japan, a pillar of technological development and progress, has yet to address race as a pressing national issue. The racial discrimination that exists in Japan is reminiscent of the segregation-based atmosphere of 1950s America, posing a hostile environment for those of non-Japanese origin".

or,as it was put in the Japan Times:

"Japan has a dire problem it must address immediately: its embedded racism.

The country’s society and government are permeated by a narrative that says people must “look Japanese” before they can expect equal treatment in society.

That must stop. It’s a matter of Japan’s very survival.

We’ve talked about Japan’s overt racism in previous Just Be Cause columns: the “Japanese only” signs and rules that refuse entry and service to “foreigners” on sight (also excluding Japanese citizens who don’t “look Japanese”); the employers and landlords who refuse employment and apartments — necessities of life — to people they see as “foreign”; the legislators, administrators, police forces and other authorities and prominent figures that portray “foreigners” as a national security threat and call for their monitoring, segregation or expulsion.

But this exclusionism goes beyond a few isolated bigots in positions of power, who can be found in every society. It is so embedded that it becomes an indictment of the entire system."

Yup,lets have this as a model to aspire to...not.

Japan isn't perfect but hell yes.....Compared to the s***e zero cohesion model you support and the elite have forced onto this country Japan looks like a haven in comparison.

Japan doesn't want your model and is far happier as it is.

The way I see it, they are right and you are wrong.
