Sometimes you get a group of players that dont gel. We have a group like this. They will leave and do well and we will be all scratching our heads. It happens. West Ham went down with Carrick Defoe Cole and Di Canio in their ranks.

We have lost our identity in trying to compete with the bug clubs. We should have been happy just surviving in the PL each season. We used to bring through our youngsters, or sign players from lower leagues or top teams' reserves, and make them into good players. All our big successes in the past were like that - Johnson, Thomas, Wright, Bright, McGoldrick, etc. Now we try and bring in marquee signings who are often only in it for the money. We have rarely if ever done well when we've spent loads on players.
