I think it's fairly obvious that he meant Burnley as he did say "Southampton had long since given up any idea of launching an attack" which of course they didn't do whereas it was Burnley that were doing everything to protect their lead

Obviously.

Tbh I'd pick him over Puncheon at the moment. Even on the left wing!

In all seriousness though, I think he's got great potential and if used in the right way could be a real asset.

Puncheon's most effective position at the moment is selling programmes so that isn't saying much. However I hope he gets a run out tomorrow so I can see what he can do first hand now he has had a bit of time to train with the squad.

It was utterly stupid to spend £8 million on him at this time. He's primarily a centre-back, and we have 7 of them now. His passing ability could come in useful if he's played in his alternative defensive midfield role, but I would rather Cabaye, Luka and RLC as our central midfield 3.

A highly-rated prospect who will hopefully come good for us in the future. Of course, if we're relegated, he'll probably be immediately sold at a loss, having not played 10 games for us.

Bearing in mind that RLC is a loanee & Cabaye is out of contract at the end of the season is it such a bad buy?

Bearing in mind he has a year to get used to the EPL & the fact that prices are gonna continue skyward for a while at least, it may prove to be a very shrewd buy.

In reality, I half expect him to go to Everton in January as Koeman tried to nick him from under our noses in the summer.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

His (Riedewald) performance last night was a def improvement on his last two. He played better than Puncheon has in the last 18 months. He showed some nice touches & link up play; & looked fairly comfortable in the DM position. If he can progress he certainly deserves a chance & hopefully gave Roy enough to think about regarding starting eleven/substutions.

Really talented player. He must have wondered what the f*** he got himself in for, but hopefully we can improve enough that people will see we got a bargain at today's prices.

Needs to play in my opinion

A midfield 3 of RLC, LM and JR will move the ball a lot quicker than what we've got at the moment

You'd want to fit Cabaye in surely

I think its a case of horses for courses.

Cabaye is potentially our best centre mid, yet he was out muscled at times vs Southampton.

There will be times when Luka might be a better choice over Cabaye and vice versa.

I think Roy will work it out.

Very tidy player, will improve with time, loved the way Mamadou continually talked him through the first half

Cabaye gets found out when hes asked to play without a proper DM to protect the back four. Thats not his job and its unfair to see him comprimised without Luka or DM on the pitch as per the Southampton game.

Would work out very very well if Riedewalde turns out to be a good DM to play along side Luka with Cabaye on front. Obviously for the time being RLC can take that role and give Riedewalde time to bed in. Lets hope it works out, as someone else said might be a great buy if he can fill RLC void when he returns back to Chelsea next summer.
