All those that suggested Pardew didn't know what he was doing when he sold these two now have their answer
They weren't good enough for the Premiership then and they aren't now
I said at the start of the season they won't get to 5 Prem goals combined
Ill stick by that 5 games in

Mate, why is it so important to you that you are proven right all the time? I mean, seriously, what's the point?

In Gayle's highest scoring PL season he managed 7 league goals; ditto for Murray. Not great, admittedly.

But last season our back-up strikers were Wickham and Campbell (let's just pretend the whole Loic Remy thing never happened). Wickham's never scored more than 5 league goals in a PL season; Campbell's top score is 6.

Gayle and Murray also have better scoring records than Wickham and Campbell in the Championship, too.

If Gayle and Murray aren't good enough for the Premier League, that's probably also the case for Wickham and Campbell.

And therein lies the real problem: failing to upgrade. (Although this season we seemed to have solved the problem of having substandard back-up centre-forwards by not having any back-up centre-forwards.)

GOOD POST

Murray did only play 17 games that season in the prem as he was on loan at Reading.
7 goals in 17 games some as sub - not too shabby!!!
