I do get the impression that there are some on here who are of the viewpoint that had the coach been black and the player white and the words used by the coach had expressed the same sentiments the sequence of events would have been totally different.And perhaps this is a view of many outside of HOL.

Has anyone heard anyone at their work say to young female workers, things like, 'Make sure your parents don't bring Ebola over', followed by people in fits of laughter? Is it said in the classroom from teacher to pupil? As it's so acceptable similar surely must've been said to bosses and owners of companies people here have worked for after they may have been back to their ancestral home for a break. 'Hey x, hope you haven't brought any <insert negative topical matter> over here.' Must go down a storm every time. I don't know why it isn't heard everyday, everywhere. Very Partridge or David Brent. This whole thing appears like the regional office being mixed in with the workers' tea room.

By doing so devalues the real instances of racism that occur.

Now here is an excellent example. Your post here parodies and/or appropriates what is referred to as "black culture". Is there anything wrong in it? In my view, not in the slightest, you're clearly not a racist, and you'd have to work pretty hard to be offended by it. Now take your exact comment above, and put it in the mouth (or keyboard) of, say, Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, or even Mark Sampson - would it still be OK? If not, why not? I think this is the kind of thing people who become "anti-PC" tend to rail against.

It's appears to be you with the moral issues with the law not me. Whether it's inappropriate of not is not the point. If you sack someone for legal behaviour you deserve to pay a price in my book. I hope he takes them for all he can.

Surely the most sensible course of action when she made her original complaint was for the complainee to say "Oh dear, that wasn't a very professional thing to say, We'll have a word with him to make sure it doesn't happen again" and that should have been the end of the matter
