His distarous run of 6 wins in a calendar year, I thought it can't get worse than this. How wrong was I. Never felt so disconnected from the club as I do right now. Nothing to cheer. Players don't give a flying f***. Squad depth embrassingly thin. Steve parish has overseen this shoddy mess. It's time he step aside. I didn't expect a win today but if the 1st half performance was replicated in the 2nd half, then you can't complain but the attitude and cowardness arose as soon as that 2nd goal went in. Team of overpaid spineless individuals. 5 years wasted for what a lack of investment in the squad this summer.

What a mess we're in.

Sadly, I agree with all of this.

You off your head Brauny? He was s***e. Got lucky to inherit a well drilled and fit team left behind by Pullis and carried on by Warnock. He then cut so many corners and did things in a slap dash manner and vehthing else went out the window. Was absolute crap.
Roy will see us alright. He's come into an impossible situation with the fixtures he's had first up. Things will change once they are out the way.

Going by the 1st half I think you're right but it's time and/or luck that Parish is takin liberties with again and that'll do us.

What we were was a team not lacking in spirit nor ability nor goals but just a bit disorganised. Still a lot better than it now.

You make a lot of sense sometimes Kermy but in this I have to disagree we were an unfit team with no defence to speak of and it was only going to get worse. I will admit we could do with someone with Pardew's passion at the moment but his ability didn't live up to that. If Allardyce hadn't gone I don't think we'd be in this mess, the chopping and changing of the managers has destroyed us, hiring FDB in the first place was probably the wrong choice, not giving him a decent chance was idiotic, I like to think he'd have turned it around, at the very worst we'd have been in the same position. The transfer window was a farce and now Roy has no time at all to create a miracle. I still have faith but tbh it's rapidly draining away.

Relying on luck amazing isn't it? You'd have thought he'd have worked out by now that with Palace if something can go wrong it will go wrong.

Lets be sensible it's September and we're 5 points of 14th, plenty of time for Roy to make miracles.

Yeah maybe that was a bit hyperbolic, but he's got to do something soon otherwise Parish will fire him and we'll probably end up with Pardew again /shudder

(Joke btw, well hopefully)

Realistically we will have to get 40pts from 30 games to stay up this season. Roy Hodgson averages about a 40% win ratio (39% at Fulham and 41% at Liverpool), which translates to 36 points (12 wins) ignoring draws. Obviously, this is all just hope more than anything, and if it is vaguely accurate, then we are in for a nail-biting season. I am just hoping that there are somehow three worse teams than us over this season.

On another note, yes we will probably be 8 games lost, but at least we'll have played most of the hard teams already, which will give Roy a very good opportunity to build a run going into Christmas when we play the rest of league.

We would have been relegated under Pardew last season. The game against Swansea was absolute proof of that. Look how long it took the players to start performing after Allardyce came in, there was a rot in the club. What needed to happen was for Big Sam to stay and for there to be a serious injection of funds into the squad, moving out players who were not good enough or had been underperforming. When he left the club made a bold and what seemed to be a progressive appointment, but failed to be bold and progressive in the transfer market. The idea that a team who stayed up by the skin of their teeth playing fairly direct football could evolve into a possession based team playing 3 at the back smacked of as much arrogance as FDB showed playing 2 kids on their debuts in defence against Huddersfield. We all knew that money needed to be spent and despite good loan signings and Jairo, who I think may turn good, players like Puncheon, Hennessey, Ward, Sako and Ladapo had to be upgraded. This is not a business where you can paper over the cracks because it catches up with you eventually. Look what happened at Sunderland, they kept bodging it and eventually the whole thing collapsed. With the American investment and the continued revenue from the Premier League there is absolutely no excuse for the club not to have spent big this summer to back the new manager. It happened last year when despite bringing in Andros, Tomkins and Benteke we were still thin in areas and we had to invest in January. Lessons have not been learnt, it is far better and cheaper to build the squad over the summer period than in January when prices are inflated (£13m for Schlupp) and frankly we may be so far adrift by then that players will not come here anyway.

I'm absolutely gutted by what is happening, I'm not expecting us to be a top 8 team but after 5 years in the league we should have developed far more than we have and that has to be put down to the management at the club. We have little identity on the pitch and 6 games in have 32 more games of a relegation battle nailed on, our 5th relegation battle in 5 years and one that is looking very difficult to get out of. I don't think Parish should go but I think there are serious questions to be asked and I think he needs to answer them.

"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017.

If we defend like we did in the second half then no one can save us.
