Roy will see us alright. He's come into an impossible situation with the fixtures he's had first up. Things will change once they are out the way.

Go to agree with this.

I get the impression that there are many 'fans' on here that want to see Roy fail to prove that they were not wrong about how bad Pardew and Frank were.

Pardew? Why the hell are people posting about him now? He's not just gone, but long gone. We must surely have moved on by now.
Whatever we thought about him - and there are divergent views - it's history now.
Let's just focus on getting behind our team, our manager and our board. We'll be in the sh1te if we don't.

People have very short memories if they genuinely want the Pardew days back.

For a variety of reasons I don't believe that he was training the squad properly and I am certain we would have gone down with him. Thank God we pulled the trigger in time for Sam to turn things round.

We would have been relegated under Pardew last season. The game against Swansea was absolute proof of that. Look how long it took the players to start performing after Allardyce came in, there was a rot in the club. What needed to happen was for Big Sam to stay and for there to be a serious injection of funds into the squad, moving out players who were not good enough or had been underperforming. When he left the club made a bold and what seemed to be a progressive appointment, but failed to be bold and progressive in the transfer market. The idea that a team who stayed up by the skin of their teeth playing fairly direct football could evolve into a possession based team playing 3 at the back smacked of as much arrogance as FDB showed playing 2 kids on their debuts in defence against Huddersfield. We all knew that money needed to be spent and despite good loan signings and Jairo, who I think may turn good, players like Puncheon, Hennessey, Ward, Sako and Ladapo had to be upgraded. This is not a business where you can paper over the cracks because it catches up with you eventually. Look what happened at Sunderland, they kept bodging it and eventually the whole thing collapsed. With the American investment and the continued revenue from the Premier League there is absolutely no excuse for the club not to have spent big this summer to back the new manager. It happened last year when despite bringing in Andros, Tomkins and Benteke we were still thin in areas and we had to invest in January. Lessons have not been learnt, it is far better and cheaper to build the squad over the summer period than in January when prices are inflated (£13m for Schlupp) and frankly we may be so far adrift by then that players will not come here anyway.

I'm absolutely gutted by what is happening, I'm not expecting us to be a top 8 team but after 5 years in the league we should have developed far more than we have and that has to be put down to the management at the club. We have little identity on the pitch and 6 games in have 32 more games of a relegation battle nailed on, our 5th relegation battle in 5 years and one that is looking very difficult to get out of. I don't think Parish should go but I think there are serious questions to be asked and I think he needs to answer them.

Top post!

Pardew was on a downward slope for ages, the unbelievably strange subitutions and the comment about not worrying about defence proved that he didn't know how to substain momentum, or the know how to push and direct our football to a different style of play. I really don't think that we have employed a creative manager since the days of Steve Coppell.

I personally would love to see a manager in the mould of Pochettino, ( Thomas Christiansen) at the helm, but as we all know they are few and far between and they also need time.

I think some misunderstood, I don't want pardew back. I'm just stating ATM, it's currently worse than his 2016 spell. Therefore it's the gutless and spineless players to blame.

Sadly, have to agree. Though I look at what is happening to Sunderland at the moment and I am worried.

In my opinion Pardew needed the January Window to sort out the defence, especially left back. I am not at all convinced we would have been relegated. But it is history.
We have been very unfortunate (Normal for us) over the years, the Pulis era was good then he goes .... Big Sam the savious does it for us then he goes .....
As for now, Hodgson needs time let's be patient, to have these 3 games so soon for him is unfortunate.
Not easy for any of us let alone the Chairman and directors.
Keep the faith

So Pardew is the only s*** manager on the planet, then. Zat right?

A couple of the players need a kick up the arse right enough but some others look outstanding.

Sam did a brilliant job and our inevitable demise from the top flight was postponed until this season, due to lack of investment in key areas and 'muddled' thinking with poor decisions by Parish.
