People have very short memories if they genuinely want the Pardew days back.

For a variety of reasons I don't believe that he was training the squad properly and I am certain we would have gone down with him. Thank God we pulled the trigger in time for Sam to turn things round.

Yeah totally agree.

Turns out everything Newcastle fans warned us about Pardew was true. Ruined us and we're still recovering.. They had to go down and come back up, hopefully Sam and now Roy can save us from that indignity, but who knows maybe we'll have to do the same.

Newcastle spent £60m plus to get out of the championship at the first attempt, there is no way on earth Parish and the Yanks will do that. A fire sale to raise that amount so the Americans can leave without losing their investment is more likely.

This is a results driven industry and every debacle and fiasco has one common denominator. For us it's not the managers/players, it's Parish.

Relegation and the subsequent decade in the championship/league1 won't kill us. The majority of us will remain loyal and our chairman will always be out of his depth.

Well there net spend in the summer was only £11.5m according to this: [Link]

And according to this forum: [Link]

Newcastle had the LOWEST net spend in there first Championship window of -£12.8m that's an actual profit of £12.8m.

No idea if these figures are true or correct, but i'd be surprised if the £60m spend figure was anything close to that when taken player sales in to account.

So lets be fair Newcastle had a fire sale and reinvested some of that money, which I imagine Parish and co would do.

Pardew was a busted flush by the end of his time at Palace.

As Kermit pointed out, he was sacked after running Chelsea and Utd close in consecutive games, but I think while Parish made the correct decision, the timing was all wrong and he should have dispensed with Pardew a lot sooner.

As for Parish, if I was Harris or Blitzer, I would be asking some serious questions about his decision making.

If we are relegated then I think the Americans will sell their stake and I would not be surprised if new investors would want their own man running the club and Parish is forced out.

I suspect that you'd be right and the worst thing of all is that we'd have nothing whatsoever to show for five years in the PL, bar some cladding.

Even though it is a truly terrible start, even with 0 out of 8 we still have a change if we get something at St James and then home to West Ham.I know it's hard to see us winning games at the moment but lets not give up yet.

Slowly getting used to relegation. Unless there's some bounce.

We'll probably never know but really curious as to what the decision making process might be for appointing a new manager ?

The length of time it took to appoint de Boer would suggest that it may not have been solely SP's decision.

I personally don't feel anyone is 'giving up'.

I think the main debate revolves around how on earth we got into this mess in the first place!

We have an incredible set of supporters, who deserve so much better.

I feel confident that Roy will get the best out of the team. Forget the result yesterday, at least he was brave enough to make some changes.

We've go to stick together!

Go to agree with this.

I get the impression that there are many 'fans' on here that want to see Roy fail to prove that they were not wrong about how bad Pardew and Frank were.

Absolutely bang on with this.
