Ballance maybe Roots mate but how many chances are they going to give him. One semi decent innings and the rest instantly unforgettable

Realistically Borthwick is still a future contender. Waller has never had the press that Crane has. Crane has already spent a season down under and well done but it's a reasonable argument to say it's too soon.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Rashid in there either....why not take him as well, considering how young Crane is. While he seems to be apart of the one day set up they don't seem to rate him test wise.....Did well in India so I don't know what's going on there.

Though as we can see with the Ballance selection.....if you are mates with the 'in' people you get more chances than most....same as life in general.

We won't play two spinners over there, it'll be Ali on the field and Crane as the young backup with Shield cricket experience. Rashid has only ever played against sub continental sides in tests where you need two spinners to bowl all day.

Seems a bit daft when the England Lions are also touring Australia at the same time. I would have thought it more sensible to put Crane in the Lions squad and actually let him play cricket rather than just carrying the drinks for the main team

I think they're just having a training camp in Australia, not a tour. And if he's in Perth when we need him in Brisbane or vice versa, that's a problem.

I also think Rashid could play in the Big Bash again and therefore be in Australia anyway.

With the well documented Ben Stokes incident perhaps there is a chance that we won't actually go on the tour.
If this comes to pass this will be a gargantuan blow for England.

Its unbelievable.
Same applies for Vince. This stat may mean nothing, although still it highlights something. Paul Collingwood the coach on tour has a higher batting average that James Vince this year. Albeit Collingwood is playing Div 2 and Vince Div 1.

I think the problem with Ballance is his technique of stepping back into the crease leaving him vulnerable to pace on his pads.

His character is ok and is strong mentally.

Ben stokes has to go on tour. If he is convicted it will only make him feel more at home in Australia.

That reminds me of the old Ian Botham quip who when asked by Australian immigration officials if he had a criminal record replied that he didn't realise he still needed one.

Best comment ever was by David Gower. When interviewed on Aussie TVs about whether he thought the ashes series was a clash of cultures, he replied how can it be when you are playing against a country with no culture!

Ha...we might get smashed but it's going to be a fun tour.

At least after this....if Vince, Ballance or Malan don't hack it we won't be seeing them in an England shirt again.

Have just seen the footage of the Ben Stokes fight. Silly, silly boy, he has to lose the vice captaincy at least.
