Benteke was isolated in a clueless team thanks to Frank, when he is fit again if Roy selects the the right midfield , and there are plenty of them , he will be in a team that might actually supply him and support him. That could be very exciting.

True MK, but then we go back to the formation that most teams suss out quickly, the clattering Wilf everygame and a weaker 3 man midfield. Personally thought Saturday's formation was far more exciting to watch and hard to break down. The mullering of the champions surely says it all

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

What thinks he will go back to that formation ?
The trick is to find the right combination of players and formation that works that benefits all .
Anyway it's potentially exciting and nice one for Roy to have.

True , a lot less of knocking Zaha up in the air when he's all over the place, not just stuck on a wing. As a defender you'd take a foul a yard or 2 from the touch line.

Chelsea handled our formation very badly but I think it's one that could be very effective against a lot of sides.

The midfield 4 shields the back 4 well, Wilf and Andros lead our 'press', effectively defending more from the front by making opponents pass more hastily into midfield than they'd like. it's one reason I liked Schlupp. He too popped up all over.

I couldn't believe how far forward we set our offside trap v Chelsea but it worked okay against a class team. maybe against lesser sides it will work even better.

In short...Benteke may well have a tough old job to return as an automatic starter if Saturday wasn't a 1 off (and I'm optimistic it wasn't when we have our best 11). Seems almost unimaginable.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Bentekkers to come off the bench away at the Amex and score the winner.

It is written...

What I think is very important is that we now have a plan B.Using Wilf in the centre to run at defenders always seemed a good idea to me. Now it has been shown to work we can keep the opposition guessing on what formulation we will start with and switch during a game if needed. We have been very predictable and well organised lower teams have found ways of overcoming us too easily. That ought no longer to be the case once Benteke is available again, and might be even now using one of our big lump reserves.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

Benteke has a bit to prove I reckon, and I'd like to see him busting a gut to prove it, smashing into defenders like Murray in his pomp and making goals happen.

But I don't thinnk he walks back in when fit. Townsend and Zaha looked electric on Saturday and I can't imagine any team fancying playing against them.

Saturday's 11 + Punch (when he gets his game back), RLC & Benteke is a tidy 14 going forward. Fosuh-Mensah and Tomkins too. I think we've got a really decent squad when they're all fit.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

Going off what Roy’s said in his P.C Benteke is still out for another 4-5 weeks which means he’ll probably miss the weed game Wow we are screwed !

There is no doubt this affects the players. I know they're paid to give it their all and chase every ball rolling out but knowing there's nobody to score will definitely be in the minds of the players. Was bound to happen with our transfer strategy, or lack of.
