In the cup final season we had a run of 14 games without a Premier League win from Boxing day until April 9th. Ok we drew 5 but there were 9 defeats in that run including 5 straight defeats. We finished 15th and got to the cup final.

Not sure we have the same characters, spirit and fight in the team that we had then and confidence is rock bottom but it shows extended bad runs do not always end in relegation, provided you have a good spell at some stage of the season. That might be the problem!

Need to start turning it round quickly though. A point minimum v Chelsea has to be the first target.

Think we can forget any point vs Chelsea. If Zaha still not fit and Sakho carrying a knock, spare them till we go to Newcastle. That is when our real season start. Imagine Wilf in full speed at St.James's and Sakho marshalling the defence.....can't wait!

A Newcastle start to our season seems reasonable, who knows what some of our youngsters could do against Chelsea when told they are not expected to win by the pundits - but the Palace Supporters will appreciate them winning.

Have you forgotten the 9 points against the top 6 teams the end of last season that kept us up.....?
If we surrender before starting against "big" opposition we are doomed in advance.

Who knows. What we need is a lucky goal and scored first, then back to the wall defending. Havd to get a bit of luck soon. .

After this week (assuming we lose), we'll have zero points in 8 games. However, we would also have played 4 (including 3 away) of the big 6 teams. So another 11 games until half way, with only 2 of the big 6 left.

The next level down (Everton, Southampton, West Brom) don't seem so much above us (I know we lost to Southampton). And most of the rest are very beatable.

I think it's entirely capable that we escape relegation. We just need a win to start the points going...

No chance unless we seriously improve and quickly, our goal difference is horrific. Not even odds against with the bookies.
