Well that's an excuse that I haven't heard before. Where do people dram them up from

No point in hiring a manager if you do that , may as well do a Ron Noades .
SP already gets loads of stick for allegedly interfering too much.

How do you know he didn't and carried on regardless?
If Frank could not figure out for himself how best to use the players he has he should not be a football manager.

If received wisdom is to be believed SP already has form for telling a manager to change his style of play as rumours abound that he did so with Dougie Freedman.

How likely do you honestly think it is that SP told FDB to change the style of play and the latter refused

As I said on another thread if Frank did lie at the interview about changing things gradually and then went on 3-4-3 possession football revolution not much Parish could do about that.

This rather daft rumour seems to have been started by one forum member who is hoping that if he repeats it enough times (which he has) that it will become the truth.

Ask yourself, why would a potential manager deliberately lie at an interview about the style of play that he would adopt as it doesn't make sense

Quite simple really Although done a lot of good Steve parish .Who demanded Dramatic change 6 weeks before season started ? not the fans . Stability that's all the fans wanted .what made him think we had the players to implement that change ? The buck stop at him on this one .Start the process now for a new manager and players for the Championship so we have half a chance of coming straight back up .Sorry Steve this mistake was costly.

That's correct ME we do not know what is the truth or rumour , is the perceived wisdom that SP told DF to change 100% correct.

Dougie might well have changed if and when told, but Frank may be arrogant enough to ignore any such advice and thought he knew better.

I have interviewed many people who have lied to try and get a job , in their own strange way they seem to think it is clever to try to bluff their way through and try and fool the person interviewing and the firm they wish to work for, they get upset and ask for reasons why when found out.
Many people do , usually arrogant ones who think they can get away with it.

On what do you base that supposition?

I don't suppose that we will ever know but in view of the comment that it wasn't surprising the number of managers that we had got through I would guess at board level interference

If anyone wants a breakdown of the figures, here is our league record since the moment Yannick Bolasie injured himself celebrating Chungy's winner at Stoke City just before Xmas 2015.

Won : 14

Lost : 40

Draw : 12

That is a devastating amount of losses for any team, at any level to absorb.

I think the YB injury did hurt us and that was also the season we jettisoned Glenn Murray and by mid-season had hired footballing mercenary Emmanuel Adebayor.

As important people declined (Jedi) in other areas we made terrible signings (Alex McCarthy) Remember him? and suddenly people like Patrick Bamford, who were never, ever going to be Palace were on board.

We have lost a core group and failed to replace them with players of the same mentality and toughness with a point to prove.

We lack Leaders and Winners........

Mamadou and Luka ?

I agree with Wilbraham413, I still look back to Dougie leaving while we were in 1st place in the Championship and can see only two managerial appointments that made sense in the years since. Both of those, Pulis and BfS made to avoid relegation due to poor managerial appointments and lack of signing.
We are a team that sits in the bottom third of the Premiership but SP obviously has to promote higher now we have US backers that work on results and returns.
Perhaps a drop and rebuild is what we need, football is football and the games are not as public down one league but I don't watch the other leagues, Premier included, when we are down and it is still exciting.
Cheaper tickets as well given the membership rubbish!!.

Nice first post.
Parish has not raised prices for 5 years for STS.

The answer is simple. We screwed up big time during the transfer window. Going into a new season with one striker was beyond imagination. Now we are after a 35 year old free agent striker who has failed to score for a few years. We are reaping what we've sown and how anyone can say that we will get out of this mess, is beyond me. If there were a ray of light at the end of the tunnel I could be a little less negative. But to sum up our football at this time the words, dreadful, diabolical, disaster........ come to mind!!!
It is embarrassing to say you are a Palace supporter, even those who know little about football know that Palace are setting all time records! Will we get into the Guinness Book of them?!!!
I really do feel that we (the faithful supporters) have been let down big time. We have somehow managed to stay up over the last few seasons with a couple of defensive managers, so why didn't we batten down the hatches for this season with a few quality players to save us going through the same agonies again?
I am lost for words! I have supported the Glaziers/Eagles for 60 years and feel somewhat bitter about our present predicament.
