Monarch in administration

It's not a great time for royally-named enterprises. Palace... I'm selling my shares in Regal Hotels, just to be on the safe side.

Well don't feel any sympathy for the company as they refused my justified claim for compensation for a long delay, returning from Malaga, a couple of years ago. Sorry for most of the staff although the pilots will be OK, in great demand, however, reckon most will only join Ryanair as a last resort. I knew a Ryanair pilot who eventually managed to get a job with EasyJet - much to his delight. Edited by rob1969 (04 Oct 2017 7.32pm)

I expect that the Administrators will sell most of the assets to other airlines and whoever acquires the planes and routes etc will need to take on staff so hopefully many will quickly find alternative employment

Edited by rob1969 (04 Oct 2017 7.32pm) Issue is that Monarch fly Airbus aircraft whereas Ryanair have a Boeing fleet, hence there would have to be re-training on the different aircraft. In terms of the current situation regarding Monarch passengers, I am advised that Qatar Airways are involved in operating the Monarch flights. Edited by Willo (05 Oct 2017 8.38am)

Flew out to Portugal (with Ryanair) the morning Monarch went into administration. Sadly, I was due to fly back with Monarch yesterday. Risked it and got flown back by a BA operated Qatar Airways plane, no probs, no delay and no additional cost (to me), yesterday. Edited by madcap_v2 (06 Oct 2017 5.38pm)

Both Alitalia and air Berlin went into administration some while ago, and yet are still flying thanks to government bailouts. Yet ours let's it close? Sorry for all the staff that will lose jobs.

Don't know about air Berlin,, but Alitalia's main creditor was the Italian Government. And Monarch is a PE owned business and the fund didn't want to put any more money in and that made in impossible for the CAA to renew the operating licence. So not sure what you want our Gov to do?
