Terminating Fosu-Mensah’s loan and taking Ings onloan would be a creative solution, and would allow us to buy another striker (Cenk? Niasse?)as well. At least Kelly could act as back up RB if Ward got injured

But would be a lot of competition to sign him

Hodgson denying interest, but if Fosu Mensah does return to Manure, a loan option for a PL player would be a possibility....watch this space!

I recall the Ings of old as a striker with a phenominal workrate who scored all types of goals.

Sadly due to a succession of injuries he has only made 13 appearances since the start of the 2015/16 season. Not for me at the present time.

The Ings of old? He was a 21 year old striker. Had just 1 decent season before the injury.

Are you sure you're not mistaking him for someone else

When I mentioned the "Ings of old" I was referring to him a few seasons ago, not in relation to his age.

Eddie Howe signed him for Burnley for just over £1 Mill and he did have a very good season (25 goals ?) followed by a season when he wasn't as successful but I think was in double figures.Liverpool signed him after that season so this was recognition of his performances at Burnley.

All my other comments regarding workrate and the different types of gols he scores stand.

I think he would be worth a gamble as a loan option. He is still young and must be (a bit like Wickham) desperate to regain form and fitness. If another striker comes in as a buy, then we would have three decent strikers on the books plus Wickham to return

I Fear that with both Wickham and Inngs it will be that they are remembered for how they used to be rather than how they will be.
We cannot have two injury prone strikers to get us out of the situation we are in.

Good point. We would need to buy a striker who is inform, match fit and complements Benteke. This might be someone like Cenk? If Fosu-Mensah does go back to Manure, then the issue is who comes in? Either Ings or Wilshire are very good players and would make good additions - if they stayed fit. But possibly both are too big a risk in our current situation
