This comment precedes every game we play.

It is important to see whether Chelsea was a flash based on the opponent underestimating us/having to travel further on international duty and not on an actual rise in quality.

It is also important to guage whether we are still good on the road against a reasonable team with an outstanding manager in a hostile environment where the away fans impact is lessened by the fact that they are about 1/3 mile from the pitch.

However, if we lose (or draw) a hard fought match but displayed plenty of quality then it wouldn't be the end of the world (although my poor cat is likely to be kicked into space).

Expectations need to be tethered.

the whole season boils down to this....

we bought ourselves a lifeline, but no more chances to make a mess of it.

So lets show the fat spanish waiter that managing in La Liga was a walk in the park compared to the Premier League.

As much as I'd like to see Selhurst double in size, we rarely sell out now, and we certainly would not if we were relegated.

Of all the legacies of this top flight run to leave, this wouldn't be one for me. I'd rather a new training ground, youth academy etc. Infrastructure that will still benefit us if/when we go down.

We have to start picking up points consistently soon as, on current statistics we're set to finish the season on 15 points. Will you still be pitching the same line after 18 games, with only six points, because there's still 60 points to play for? We already need more than a point a game to stay up and every lost games increases that requirement. What did or didn't happen four seasons ago is entirely irrelevant and there is no Pulis (or Allardyce) this time and, even if there were, if our current overall form were to continue until Christmas, no one would be able to save us.

I agree we need to set picking up points but there is no chance the present points to games ratio is going to continue for various reasons!

1)In our 8 matches so far we have played Man Ure,Chity & Pool away so they are tough matches out of the way. Also we have taken 3 points off Chelski which it is doubtful any of the relegated teams at the end of the season will do.

2)Woy is capable of saving us just like Pullis & Fat Sam did & they all get their teams well organised & solid at the back.In my opinion they are all very similar managers & I am very confident we will stay up with Woy at the helm!I'm so confident that i've bet £450 on us staying up at 8/11!

3)4 matches were wasted with Frank De Boer in charge playing a system which would never work with our current playing staff. Also according to reports the majority of the players didn't like him which didn't help him.

4)Wilf is now fit & with him in the team we will be far more dangerous offensively & we will score more goals & pick up more points.Obviously he could get injured again but lets hope he doesn't!

5)Historically we pick up far more points in the 2nd half of the season & normally slow starters especially in the Prem. I know that what happened in the past has no relevance what happens in the future but I am very confident this pattern will continue. With a far more organised team which will be drilled well on the training ground we will be harder to beat.1 of my best mates in London is a Foolham fan & he says Woy is their best manager in their history & what he did there was a miracle saving them from relegation when they looked dead certs to go down, getting them their highest finish in the Prem & a UEFA cup final.

Look, we can probably beat Newcastle, but a draw isn't the end of the world. Newcastle have played pretty well this season only losing once. I'd sooner we just play well too even if that means committing less than we did against Chelsea, as they will be far less open, as has been the case pretty much in every match we've expected to win and promptly lost. As long as we're tight and disciplined, and play well, that's all I want to see. The points will come, and a point is fine at that.

We've lost 3 times. Spurs, Huddersfield and Brighton.

We have played well though, built on a solid defence, only beaten by more than one goal when we were down to 10 men against Spurs. Would have been more confident if you hadn't beaten Chelsea, but still think we'll be set up pragmatically and look to keep you from dangerous areas, hitting you on the break and aiming to take advantages of set pieces and the like.

I'd put money on <1.5 goals

We have to stop Shelvey dictating the play with his vision and passing ability.
Also Merino has a quality left-foot and can pick a pass.

ok , well then Newcastle may not have been 'the biggest game in years''

but certainly West Ham will be. Because i cannot see us going to Spurs and picking up much easy pickings.

Lose to West Ham - a 6 pointer - , and we are toast.
