I do enjoy listening to the team on HOL radio. I do have to take exception to one point of view put forward by the host, Chris, though in the last show. The concept is that no one is allowed to ask for Parish’s head without offering a viable alternative solution. Rationale is that no fan in the history of the sport is allowed to ask for a leadership change, unless they proffer up a valid alternative.

So by this rationale any fan in the history of the sport who has held a “ (insert chairman’s name here) OUT“ banner is not allowed to do so unless they have a couple of pages of notes on the back about what the alternate plan is. Its kind of like stopping folks protesting the poll tax, and telling them they simply cannot question the poll tax, unless they have a nice dossier together on an alternative solution.

But OK, so lets assume that’s valid, and no fan of any club in the world can say they want the chairman to be gone, without offering a detailed alternative solution. So here are 2 alternative solutions.

1 – take on an additional business partner and allow this individual to run the football side of the club. Parish is a decent businessman, as evidenced by his successes off the field, but he is not, nor will he ever be a football man, nor will he ever be a good chairman. Not after all of this time, still making huge and damaging mistakes like the transfer window nonsense, or the FDB fiasco. He has seriously damaged the club in the last few months by making terrible and completely idiotic decisions.

2 – sell your stake in the club entirely. Please don’t expect me to believe that a suitable, responsible, and financially strong person is not out there, looking to get a stake in a premier league club. I can hear the cries of “better the devil you know” but no, its not, when the devil you know is totally inept and never learns from mistakes. So if I go to Selhurst in a few weeks with a “Parish Out” sign, I will be sure to write my alternatives on the back in small print, and make some nice laminated handouts, and then I will be allowed to hold my sign I suppose.

I think the poster had far too many "Sherbet's" before typing that lot???

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I said my piece and I certainly am in no position to tell people what they can and can’t think or say, my point on the show was that we were reviewing a match like we do each week and that there wasn’t much I could do about the issue being raised with what was being tweeted. Ever the diplomat...

We teamed up with FYP and hosted a live phone in so these views could be aired. Results are here: [Link]

Hambo,

Just wanted to acknowledge the great work you and the team are doing on your podcasts.

Have been listening regularly this season with interest - Keep up the great work.

Hopefully the Chelsea review will give us something to be thankful for (can see us getting our first point of the season).

Much appreciated. Admire the optimism - but we've surprised Chelsea before I guess!

Listened to it this morning...thought Shane had some valid points but then started to lose it towards the end...continually butting in and not allowing the debate to flow. nevertheless the presenters did their best (and did really well) to allow him to have his say and then try and discuss the issues brought up.

From my perspective, i think SP's shrewdest move this last 6months is to get a DoF in...even if it is Dougie...as he's too pally with players and as mentioned on last nights Podcast he needs to be more hands off now with regards the day to day football matters.

Hopefully this will work and allow SP time to concentrate on the behind the scenes stuff such as the training ground, redevelopment of Selhurst and the Academy.....only time will tell though I guess.

I've just listened to 1st caller Shane and pretty much all of what he said I agree with apart from the moans of Pulis and Sam leaving which I think is a combination of:

real world finances, unless Parish tried another stop all after Benteke window approach again.

Our poor infrastructure and neither wanting to take it on.

We're just beneath their level going by their previous jobs and West Brom's infrastructure.

Possibly Parish making decisions the manager didn't know of or want. Delaney's extension for example. Possibly wilf being signed from Man Utd. Or being too involved/interfering, whatever.

When Shane questioned where Parish has learnt, the examples given were when a couple of the best top level managers we've ever had and certainly best since Coppell have been in charge, and by the looks of it calling the shots or laying it straight that if a,b or c aren't done then either they or the club is, which is how it is. When Parish is there to make the call, or if he is surrounded by Pardew, Teflon Phil or brighty or anyone unable to present logic and basic football knowledge and thinking then it's gone wrong.

What do these people, especially Phil do when a risky decision or outright gamble is about to be taken by Parish? In Teflon's case it looks like it's protect their position. With a week to go with no striker, where was Freedman's voice? And Freedman's a qualified dof at this level? How? He may do a decent job if we go down, which I think we will, but it's time people say it how it is without their salary at the front of their minds. Wishful thinking I'd say.

Going back to how 2010 saved the club and Parish has kept us here more than any other chairman is great, but I'd remember that it's when the best we could possibly get were available teaching Parish how it's done and when they're gone so are the smart football decisions, and in comes the leftfield calls, repeated mistakes and taking liberties with the league in specific areas.

I do not believe this is just the end of a cycle. Better decisions since the cup final or even the January before and till now would've seen us okay. Not 5th, but okay. Actually some sort of respectable scouting system would've helped. Apart from Souare and Luca, every player has been in a panini album.

This 'it's 2017' thing of leaving a questionable set up and manager alone to continue with a highly questionable football strategy change and lack of interest in transfers because everyone uses phones and Skype doesn't wash. When a business region is in difficulties or poor management they don't get on Skype. They send in help or the top ball breaker. Rumour is Parish had concerns early on. I would've too. Certain things Frank said and did. If alarm bells actually weren't then that's even more concerning. Then transfer activity was left and we again aimed for as much business to be done on deadline day because, again, nobody told Parish how it is or how it can turn out.

I think we're down and it wasn't inevitable but I hope we're looking at promising managers at championship level now and freedman can find those players at the level he might still be able to.

Oh and Jim sounds a little like Alan Smith sometimes.

Another reason why 'we always seem to get dragged into trouble' is because Parish thinks the season starts on 1st September, after 3 games, then the international break whilst all the others have trained together and know their roles and each other.

Think Bournemouth 1st half last season in match 3 and pick any match this season.

Very poor approach and preparation. Do it for positions you're not going to potentially become unstuck in if the ONE player in that position gets injured, which they can and do. (Souare could've had a 6th month injury. Didn't need to be a motorway crash).

Now then Hambo. Look mate I know you are in a tough spot, as Parish isnt going to come on your show if you really stick the boot in (although your boy Diyar seems to enjoy doing just that, but has been AWOL lately ) But I think you know deep down that you defend Parish and make excuses for him time after time. I just felt that you were not allowing someone to express an anti Parish sentiment, for the sole reason that they didnt have a viable alternative, which I think is a bit weak. In any other industry if the leader of an organization made the kind of errors that SP did in the transfer window, and then FDB, then his head would be called for unilaterally. He is not the man to move us forward, his mini failed dalliance with dragon's den unfortunately says a lot about his character. I dont think many other PL chairmen would be entertaining taking a spot on that vanity catwalk. Its not his fault, he just isnt cut out for this. He is basically the most culpable person on the planet for the complete and utter mess we are in currently. These mistakes after all of this time are simply unacceptable. He cannot, or will not learn. That is the biggest issue.
