Vietnam is a great place to visit. Lot of ex pats out there.

Yep. Yet those very same Vietnamese got rid of American-backed Pol Pol whilst the French, the US, the U.K. and everyone else stood idly by whilst he murdered one and half million of his fellow countrymen.

I'm aware it is a haven for paedophiles like Gary Glitter.

How did that haven work out for him. He got away with it for decades in the UK

He spent almost his entire time there in prison before being deported.

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

He started living in Vietnam in 2002 and was convicted in 2006 and deported to UK in 2008.

Communism in Vietnam was a failure....like it is everywhere. Their switch to capitalism is all the evidence required.

As for the Gary Glitter stuff. Everyone and their dog know that questionable western men visit and/or investigate lower developed countries for women because they can take advantage of people's desire to escape to the west. The vision of the plain looking older guy with the hot Asian bird is a cliche. We know the story.

It's always been a bit pathetic.....but plenty people are a bit pathetic and for most it stops there

However we know that sexual predators on the young are also amongst that crowd who visit these countries. Because these countries have less social infrastructure and different attitudes and unfortunately preying on the vulnerable becomes easier for them.

Thankfully Gadd was found out....however I suspect that many aren't.

In any event I think you have confused Vietnam for Cambodia which is acknowledged for its notoriously lax judicial system and weak law enforcement which has created a reputation as a safe haven for child sex offenders

Don't think so, he moved from Cambodia to Vietnam in 2002.

Technically Vietnam is still a communist country as its still a single party state but like China has also embraced capitalism ( as has Cuba to an extent). Communist economics probably can't co exist in a predominantly capitalist world market.

So within four years. Not quite the safe haven the UK was for him throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s
