Moaners moaning....Well, I never.

Guffaw - rubbish try. Be patient. You never know, one day you may be able to quote me with actual worded evidence on that score rather than just make stuff up. Don't hold your breath though.

'Make stuff up'? What like you and fantasy communist utopias you know nothing about.
I'm loving the beta male victim mentality complaining. It's like you're taking a course.

Compared to you perhaps but no.....I'm a balance.....Being an IT teacher I'm probably more nerdy than you'd ever be.

Still, if we were gorillas, you'd be the one getting the leaves for my comfy bed.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Just finishing watching episode 4 and I think the series has changed my view on the Vietham war to an extent.

I think Kennedy's instincts on the war look pretty insightful and once it was established that the south Vietham leadership wasn't going to be strong enough to unite the south that all hope in the region was lost unless they were prepared to literally stay decades....at a cost that was unrealistic for the gains it offered.

At this time they should have just offered air support to the South and once the south looked like falling then taken their genuine allies back to America.

I think this appears knowable around 1964-65 and I'd doubt would have continued to back South Vietham when it was just not dependable as South Korea obviously was.

If you want to change it back just know that the series was directed by a goddam lefty liberal democrat.

Do you think I'm a republican?

I'm just not a 'progressive/regressive'.....and let's not forget that this war was mainly fought by democratic presidents bar one.

I listened to the series producers on the Sam Harris podcast.....you know...that guy who would shake his head at your views on Islamic reform.

Well, they came across pretty well on that and said that they tried to avoid agendas. I think they did pretty well considering. They tried to present the situation on the ground as it appeared to the presidents at the time.....I respect that.

Watch Episide 3,they knew pretty early on the war was unwinnable...

Just watched episodes 1-3. Wanted to watch the 4th to do it in 2 sittings but will have to save it. I knew a lot of south Vietnamese civilians joined the VC but I wasn't aware of the scale. Interesting to see the different reasons so many hated the Americans, before and after the military training of south Vietnamese.

South Vietnam president Diem, his wife and brother certainly didn't help matters with their authoritarianism.

When France urge you to withdraw from one of its former colonies or disengage or never engage after its own failure, maybe countries should take notice. Didn't stop Blair and Bush kicking the hornets' nest.

Like Catholic president Diem and his brother, attacking Buddhist temples and placing bans on worship when Christianity was a minority. US diplomats too close to the frequently changing leaders after the coup and murder of Diem and his brother.
