I always thought it was mor like a 3-2-5 at school in those days. Maybe Alaneagle1 can remember. I recall a left, right and centre back, a left and right midfield, a centre forward with an inside left and inside right and then your two wingers. Attack was the name of the game...

I definitely remember two at the back cos they were always the slow ones! Then I changed school in 1973 and it was 4-3-3 which seemed very progressive. I don't see how Man U in 1958 could have defended against 5 forwards with only two full backs. Maybe the centre half dropped back.
