Should've gone straight from cremation to the bin.

I think flushing him down a dirty s**ter is more disrespectful. That said, I wouldn't have really been all that objecting about him being dead before cremation either.

Whilst I don't believe in a death penalty, its hard to argue that someone like Brady didn't deserve to die, and would have been 'poorly served' by justice if he was executed.

I don't agree with the last bit though. You have to have a series of fair and just appeals that have to be exhausted before the state takes a persons life - Even if we all know they're guilty - Because sometimes they aren't.

But the likes of these monsters should be locked up under a media black out. The should never be allowed to talk or communicate with the outside world ever again - For the sake of the victims families (and that should apply to the media). After they've died their names should be erased from history, so that nothing of them remains, except the court documents. No biographies, no films etc. Just a shrine to the victims.

Damnatio Memoriae, I like it

Oddly, in the US, it works out far more expensive to have people executed than to have them in prison for life without parole.

I understand and respect your different view.

As for the expense....that's those blood sucking lawyers.

The other month I sent a polite 'there's no excuse' text to that dna guy for OJ Simpson. Don't know why I did it...it's not as though anything can be done about it.

But those kind of lawyers piss me off.

Not worth wasting an ounce of energy in finding, and subsequently transporting him, to a dirty s***ter.

Optimistic as ever

Whilst I agree that to release his ashes to be scattered on Saddleworth Moor would be insensitive in the extreme, especially to the living relatives of his victims, I would disagree that the judge has any right to ban any form of ceremony or music at the scattering.

The man was a vile human being and a despicable abuser and murderer of children - that does put him beyond the normally acceptable rituals that go with cremation and burial - but he was sentenced to life imprisonment for those crimes and served exactly that for his crimes.

Therefore, have paid his debt to society in full according to the Law of this land, he has every right to have his remains disposed of with respect, dignity and whatever form of service that he may have indicated as his wish, although it should be carried out with no publicity and possibly no lasting memorial to avoid desecration at a later date.

Maybe we shouldn't have waited until he was dead.

As it was certain he murdered those children the system should have painlessly killed him a long time ago.

It should have been done for efficiency, as in reducing the burden on the tax payer. Human rights law should be changed to limit how much delay can be introduced.

I misread the thread title and thought Liam Brady had died.

Most people wanted peace with Hitler before the war.

I don't believe in taking pleasure in suffering.

Brady was a product of his genes and environment like anyone else. It's not as though it's a matter of choice. There are Bradys everywhere. Thankfully a tiny number in a population but they exist.

All you can do is put a gun to their heads and pull the trigger (once it's proven and known). There's no point in hating them, though I understand why we do. But it's as pointless as hating a shark.

The contents of my wheelie bin do not have rights. I consider the remains of Ian Brady to have similar status.
