The problem is, is that the council were convinced that the Westfield project would be up and running by now so have let the town centre degenerate to s***.

I think there is still no start date for Westfield and even when it does get underway they estimate it will take about 3 years to complete.

Something needs to happen as the town centre is so run down it's ridiculous. Nearly every large building along Wellesley Road is unoccupied. The centre is dark, dreary and covered in what they call 'legal graffiti'... St George's Walk is just full of empty shops and shutters.

The nightlife is limited and now gets about 1,500 on a weekend compared to nearly 20,000 in the late 90s early 00s.

The town centre is depressing no doubt. However I will say that Brighton Road, South Croydon has some excellent restaurants.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Impressive. Great, great boozer. Jumpin' Jack Gilbert was my favourite.

Streatham was considered very posh to us Balham residents in the 50/60's!

As for Croydon - don't recall North/Central ever being considered desirable.

I used to work next door in Rothschild House and used to drink there prior to disappearing off to Selhurst Park

think it was called the forum, had a few in there in the past, could bore my kids with stories about the cartoon, did there used to be some dodgy nightclub in that building that you could have food, snog & a fight?
