I blame immigrants for most things, but in the case of Croydon it took a big tumble when Allders closed and they stopped doing their Christmas windows.

I know when I am living in a town planning disaster but just have to make the best of it.

Says the man who lives in Cornwall.

And I suppose all the other places on the list have nothing to do with immigration either.

As an East Croydon resident, I'm very surprised.

The introduction of Box Park is huge, there is now a half decent place to go out on the weekends (Spreadeagle deserves a shout), has a great shopping centre and good restaurants - Five Guys recently added, and probably the best transport hub into central London in UK. Most importantly it's 4 minutes to Norwood Junction!

There are admittedly too many d1ckheads around, like many places, but easy enough to avoid

My mates from Croydon have tried too convince me it's better now they have a meat liquor burger place that somehow makes it more desirable and the transport links which basically means you can quickly get to better places

When Grants closed too - lovely, old fashioned and quirky.

Turtles, Beanos, both Crystal Palace club shops (George Street, Allders....were there any more?), Woolworths.

Correction, transport links so you can quickly get out of Croydon.

Born and bred on shrublands bar 3 months in addo
As a kid it was an old style estate
Street parties in 77' for queen's golden jubilee were huge
I was 10 then and it was amazing as everyone knew everyone
The goat was rammed
Take a note to the shop for your mums fags
5p mix was huge
Ahhh
All I'm left are me memwies
Now it's a gated s***hole and the foreigners are welcome to it.
Best bit about it now is bridle road going sarf
In the garden of England now
Best thing I ever done
Ha ha we all got history and a past
Won't forget the good times as a kid though

Surrey Street, the Youngs pub at the bottom and the old swimming baths.
