Notice he didn't try to get forward as much, concentrated on his defending,,,,,the Roy effect?

Brilliant performance today, if we can keep it going who knows? Do you think Wilf looked like the answer up front or was it just a one off???

Granted he was more upfront than andros but the obvious tactic was for when one of our wingers had possession... The other goes central... And vise versa. Masterstroke by Roy. Both have pace. This tactic might even not make playing benteke a priority... Who knows.

From little acorns. Let's just see Palace consolidate the way they play. Having seen several of the team's Palace have played this season and going over the results, things are not as bad for Palace as for several other teams. I think Huddersfield, Bournemouth are short of real class and Burnley and Everton could run out of steam. The season has just begun

Agree. I've slated him lately, but played very well. Needs to be the same 11 next week.

Hmm played his correct position all of last season too and was for the most part... Unreliable.

Fair enough. But imagine the damage done when he plays OUT of position, a la FDB?

He does a few of them during game anyway.

To be a proper Prem player you have to play well 9 times out of ten.

Just saying...

Today needs to be matched at Newcastle and at home v West Ham. They won't be complacent or under prepared like a top club vs the bottom club today. We need 3 points minimum. We actually need as close to 1.5 points per game as we can get during these kinder fixtures because it's still a mountain to climb.

Ward played really well today, I fill this was because he wasn't getting forward in a wing back roll.

This probably comes down to instructions from Roy Hodgson.

At present for most teams it seems as though if a full back can't play in the wing back roll well they will expect him to do that anyway despite how it lessens them as a full back defender.

Sakho raised wards game the last time, now he has rediscovered his mojo there is no reason to suggest that he won't raise his game again.

Not a fan of ward at all, in fact I'd prefer it if he didn't play. However he impressed me today, good job Joel!

totally agree with you mate , iv said it before and il say it again he is one of our better players , i just think the confidence was zapped out of him by FDB, the whole team played out of their skin yesterday i think we were a better side without benteke for some strange reason .

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.
