The man on the corner of the six yard box is so important on corners as he makes the corridor the kicker has to go through so much tighter, hence so many hit the first man so often. Pundits and fans all bitch about it, but the margin of error for the kicker is very small and having the big man there makes it even tougher, even for the best. Also it obscures the view of anyone running into that area that Bakayoko and Merino scored from, making the header even tougher to execute. Yesterday the header was a fluke, but again a tall player was being marked by a smaller man, making the near post guy even more important because we lack tall players. Losing Benteke and Wickham has robbed us of that one extra tall guy needed to defend that area.

A six-yard box deflected header which came at Speroni at real pace.Yes it appears that it went straight through him hence some criticism but he might have been a tad distracted by the Palace player just next to him (Not sure who it was !).

It wasn't deflected - Jimmy Mac's header hit their keeper and then went straight to the goal. Speroni's great strength was his reaction saves - he seems to have lost some of that.

Thank god none of you lot, who play FIFA/Football Manager games are NOT in charge of our team . . . Jeez. Just coz you have these games & have Sky/BT/streams & shed load of slomo,s & replay after replay, you think you know better. Relax, enjoy the ride . . . It is Palace after all
