Apparently it's something that is being looked at by a lot of Bromley schools. Being pushed forward by the DfE.

The Mrs was doing some research. You can qualify as an NLP practitioner in a week. That sets alarm bells ringing.
Also, looking at how the sessions run is not good for kids who've had early life trauma (or foetal alcohol syndrome which is something being researched), are on the autistic spectrum or suffer neglect.

If you've got kids at school age I'd look into whether their school uses it as a therapy.

When I looked into all this stuff I concluded that NLP was the most practical of what I came across.

I'm not sure how effective it's going to be for young minds but investigation of it with adapted forms just seems like a sensible review of treatment options.

Hopefully something positive can come of it.

Operant conditioning might be more fun for a teacher though.

It is political. In the case of the school in talking about. Definitely.

...and yet everyone was actually taking your OP on merit and discuss NLP itself...which was turning into an interesting thread until you let yourself down and couldnt resist..

Others have made far more about me saying that the school using nlp may be about budget cuts than nip itself.

...after you lit the touch paper...but you cant seem to keep on a subject without veering off on a political rant...but then you know that...it was nice for a while talking solely on a subject I was learning about from people that clearly had knowledge of...

TBH bud its boring and tends to taint any discussion as it always boils down to the same few going round and round in the same old circles

Ah...the good old cain....never worked for the damaged kids though...for them that was no worse than what was at home.

When it comes to behaviour and teaching effective and healthy social norms schools are sh1t compared to good parents.

But if the secondary level schools was genuinely allowed to have a zero tolerance policy then they could have better influences on behaviour.... in my view.....if you got rid of the pseudo hippies wedded to modern implementations.

No point scoring here, but genuinely interested in your experience as a teacher here. I've been aware of lots of impediments to teachers including lots of bureaucracy but how what do you mean by the bold bit and how did it apply to you?
