Tomkins has been excellent since he came back in instead of Dann and works really well next to Sakho and Ward. Ward looks more assured in that setup too. Fosu-Mensah can also play there.

Dann however hadn't looked too bad until that cockup in which dere julian was also hem-hem involved.

I think team discipline and composure is more the issue than sheer ability; all of these players are highly talended and when playing well can make a solid defence; but there have been too many silly errors and poor decisions and that needs to get addressed for them all rather than just dropping someone as a "punishment".

For now however Tomkins and Sakho in central defence is our best pairing.
