If we win next Saturday (which if you've seen West Ham play recently you'll know that's more than just a possibility) and results go our way we'll be 3 points from safety with 28 games to go.
But you think we're already doomed?

We'll only be three points from safety if the teams above us loose. But do you really think bournemouth, everton, stoke and West ham are going to be in the bottom 3 af the end of the seaDon. It's more likely to be Brighton, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Swansea. ....so its these teams points we should be looking at, and we've given them one hell of a head start..

Hopefully you will stop posting negative stuff then and the rest of us can continue to support the club.

I remember someone started a we are down type thread after the Sunderland game last season and they were wrong.

We don't need negative posters like you just nown.

That's it for me. 3 points from nine games ANOTHER game without scoring and 4 points adrift of 19th at the end of October is nothing short of pathetic. Not to mention, November is probably the most crucial part of the season with so many winnable games, and to be without a striker through all of it (and probably December as well knowing the state of our medical staff) will end up costing us big time. Call me a pessimist all you want, but I really can't see any way out of this. Looks like our time is finally up.

Shut the door on your way out, there's s love

In the current age many PL games are based on fine margins and being pragmatic in many of the games this season the result could have gone either way. The difference, as I see it, between lost causes like Sunderland and Villa and ourselves is that we could (and in some cases should) have picked up more points this season and we also have some very good players. We also seem to have maintained some level of team spirit.

Hodgson is getting us organised again and seems as tactically astute as Sam was. There is no hiding from the fact that not having another striker has cost us, but the reality is we have to forget about that until January and get behind the team. After all, it's not their fault we don't have a striker and they are most definitely showing a willingness to fight.

Those who are throwing in the towel is understandable, but I just hope the players have more guts and spirit. If not then we will go down.

Rubbish, You get out the danger zone first. Then start second guessing who might or might not be the ones that finish in the bottom 3.
Pessimism is like a virus on here!

We are capable of beating West Ham Saturday. If we do it will probably only be Spurs away that Benteke will miss (a game we are expected to lose regardless of who is fit) before he will hopefully be available for Everton at home. A game that is winnable now and could very well be then.
With Zaha back, Loftus Cheek back and finally Benteke back with the players definitely starting to perform under RH I cant see any reason why we cant start picking up points.

Surely we will only be 2 points off safety if we beat west ham as I think there are 4 teams on 8 points (and 1 on 7) and if you look at their next games at least 2 / 3 of them are going to get beat. So 2 points from safety and 28 games to go!!

As said, this isn't as bad as 13/14 yet. Plus we have played 4 of the top teams, we have two strikers to come back from injury, and we are far more likely to splash the cash in January given we are a more established premiership clubs.

The only games we were really expected to win were Huddersfield and Swansea, so we are not far behind where we expect to be.

Having said that.... West Ham is a must win. We've already dropped too many points where we should have picked some up.

Good points!
Liverpool, Burnley and Newcastle away where we lost 1-0 on each occasion and should probably have had 5 points instead of none.
However - given our poor start those fine margins are what might cost us - we need to turn them around.
It might get better when both Wilf and Benteke are playing at the same time.
It is definitely not too late but it is going to be tough.

In our first season back in the PL we got 3 pts from the first 9 games (Just like at present) and stayed up.

We then had a revival getting 13 pts from the next 9 games - Can anyone see us getting 13 pts from our next 9 games ?
Next 9 games :
Home - W.Ham,Everton,Stoke,Bournemouth,Watford
Away - Tottenham,Brighton,WBA,Leicester.
