Capitalism is largely people living their lives. It is businesses producing goods and services that people want. If people don't want their products or they are of too poor a quality or too expensive, the business goes bust, and businesses that do provide what people want, thrive. In socialist economies, the only products available are those that some planner decides should be produced. Whatever the quality or price of these products, you are stuck with them, there is no other choice. However bad the goods and services are they can continue forever - no constraints on them whatsoever.

Rubbish.

What is capitalism, UK style.

Materialism, consumerism, inequality, increasing poverty including child poverty, homelessness, exclusion social deprivation, ruined prison system, law only for the rich, desperate housing situation.

I could go on and it is quite preventable IMO.

A left wing labour government could tackle some of these but not the tories who have caused most of the problems.

What is the point of any system that does not benefit the majority only a few rich people.

This one of the most deluded posts I have seen for a while.

the Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle and system of survival is really the only thing mankind is adapted to.

Asking us to live under all these other systems is like asking a goldfish to tapdance.

Only very dangerous people, or foolish people, think they know what human nature is.

The success or failures....or to be more accurate the effectiveness of systems is evident in how they relate to human nature. The reactions to systems themselves will tell you a lot about the reality of human nature...indeed sociological degrees study them.

Those who think they can control and change human nature and produce successful outcomes are the fools. Far more realistic to design systems that best utilise its more productive parts. Create systems that try to contain its more destructive parts.

The only realities that keep civilisation together are the fact that we feed meat to the beast to keep it quiet. Once you knocked the electric out and food ran low....then the reality of human nature would wipe the veneer off all the warm worded BS that people talk out of the window.

On and I know the current trend is to blame that on masculinity but that's like blaming a coin for having two sides.

But your points turn something serious into a comic format. We are talking about the fundamentals of nature and how it relates to different systems.

Like you did in your last post to the Hog?

There are no sensible points. It is just idealistic, partisan mumbo jumbo.

Poverty in Britain is not significant. There will always be relative poverty. Communism does not work. The Labour Party wil do nothing except increase our debt.
Deal with it.

There's a lot of truth to that. That is essentially the man working and the mother bringing up children. It doesn't work for everyone.

In this country once globalisation occurred that essentially meant we continually got poorer as competition increased. People are punished for wanting to follow that model now.

But that evolved into this. The problem for me is that most humans have become a slave to the system rather than living a more utopian lifestyle.
The other problem is numbers. Society has allowed too many humans to exist. That has improved quality of life in terms of health but it will also ultimately be the end of us.

Not anymore. My view is that humans, are unusual in nature, because they aren't specialised, on an evolutionary basis they have three things, that are more or less unique. What probably sets humans aside isn't that there best suited to their environment, but able to adapt to a wide variety of environments.

Biologically humans are generalists. Their unique in that they have language, and a ridiculous number of mirror neurons (thousands of times more than any other species). These two traits, probably more than anything gave humans a massive benefit. They could communicate in a very complex manner (using tens of thousands of sounds), tool use and have a monumental capacity to learn.

Where as other species tend to rely on being fast, stronger, doing more damage, being better camouflaged etc humans are able to resolve problems, and more importantly effectively discuss how to solve a problem, and design a tool to overcome that problem.

We're still doing that. We don't evolve to over come a problem, we construct a tool or set of tools to deal with the problem (from spears and fire, to complex machines and medicine).

We're probably one of the few known species to not resolve evolutionary problems, through biological specialisation.

Ba dum tish.

The definitions of poverty have changed.

Who wouldn't like a society where everyone was rich?

Trouble is that someone would always be richer than another and some lefty would be complaining about it.
