But that evolved into this. The problem for me is that most humans have become a slave to the system rather than living a more utopian lifestyle.
The other problem is numbers. Society has allowed too many humans to exist. That has improved quality of life in terms of health but it will also ultimately be the end of us.

Not really, homo sapiens show very little evidence of evolution having occurred over the time the species has been around.

In fact, quite the opposite, a lot of our 'primal evolutionary' mechanisms such as the endocrine system are maladaptive (the flight or fight response for example, works on a primal basis, but in modern man is a cause of many illnesses and problems).

The only likely real differences between a homo sapian from around 2m years ago, and now, is going to be social complexity and culturally inherited concepts. I would be surprised if they were biologically much different.

The definitions of poverty have changed.

Who wouldn't like a society where everyone was rich?

Trouble is that someone would always be richer than another and some lefty would be complaining about it.

Your glib dismissal speaks volumes.

Well if you could see biological evolution over such a short time in the dominant species then that would be remarkable.
I was referring to th evolution of hunter gatherer to farmer to the current existance. That is an evolution of ideas born out of perceived advantage and circumstance.

You've posted a lot on it (but contributed little) considering...

Yes. It's called being a realist.

Now go away.

Pretty much, though I'd add that all systems contain the intrinsic cause of failure. Whether its feudalism, capitalism, communism, aggrianism so on and so forth. People tend towards making the mistake that the model humans make, is the reality.

People obtained positions of authority and command, for tens of thousands of years based on who's v***** they came out of. Capitalism is a fairly new thing by comparison.

Those who think they can control and change human nature and produce successful outcomes are the fools.

Human nature is impossible to define, it might not even exist in any real tangible way - especially when compared to other species.

Far more realistic to design systems that best utilise its more productive parts. Create systems that try to contain its more destructive parts.

Pretty reasonable, arguably a lot of human progress has been about trying to avoid other humans with sharp pointy things.

Pretty much. I think it would surprise people just how far they would go for something to eat, if they hadn't eaten for a few days.

We're all animals at heart, we've just learned a lot of tricks that let us pretend that we aren't vicious beasts.

I have concluded that you are not all there.

I really can't be bothered to respond.

There are many, many tens of millions and more who would love to 'regress' and own a bit of land to be farming rather than working all hours in monotonous jobs in hot conditions and six days a week in factories and sweatshops, well away from their families, helping to produce the goods to satiate the demands of a throwaway, consumerist capitalist system in richer lands faraway.

Humans aren't really the dominant species. That belongs to bacterial life and viral lifeforms. We're odd in that we're an apex predator (in terms of how we consume other species) only on the basis of our tools.

That's the odd thing about humans, they're actually not evolved for anything in particular, and that oddly makes them very adaptable, by not specialising.

But you did anyway.

You really don't give a f*** about people in the UK in extreme poverty. I don't even think you have the slightest clue what it's like. Still relative to other countries they ain't poor so it doesn't matter in your book.
Tsk

I've worked on a farm, f**k that. I'd rather go back to stacking shelves than work on a farm. Granted its 'honest work', but its ridiculously hard work for next to nothing. They call it honest work, because after 12 hours, all your capable of doing is collapsing into sleep.

Except of course in calfing or lambing season, when its 24 hour days.

The only people who dream about being farmers are people who've never worked on a farm.
