But it's not the chairman's shout as to who we keep.

Are you suggesting it is Parish who has been solely responsible for selecting players to sign and then telling his managers who he intends to sign ? Has he been 'Chief Scout' as well ? Have managers had no say in who comes in ? Have the scouting/recruitment departments not played a part ?

It is interesting that at other clubs, it is the manager who is pilloried when signings don't work out yet at our club it is Parish who comes in for vituperation.

Whatever way you look at it Parish is the common denominator in all of our transfer dealings and with the poor choice of appointed managers, It cant be any coincidence how many have come and gone since and including Holloway, Parish is not fit for the role, the sooner he disappears from our club the better, I have the utmost respect for him and his achievements as a person, but he is bringing our club to its knees

Bringing the club to its knees might be an exaggeration after supporting through administrations over the years but the decisions are, for too long, taking us on an inevitable downtrend, that is for certain.

I don't think he should disappear from the club and unless he's bought out for his 18% share I doubt he will. But the football calls, decisions, tosses of the coin or rolling of the dice are doing us no favours and making us an embarrassment and whipping boys. This was expected at some point. Been saying it every summer and now it's happened. Going to if you leave it to 31st August at 10pm in a position you're vulnerable in or a manager with ideas or intentions more risky than 2nd half of Pardew.

Let Roy take charge of every decision for now or as long as he wants. Let Freedman make decisions if in the championship, but no more of this that no other club with any sense does.

At some clubs it is. There’s no hard and fast ruling around this and I dkn’t Know why you have such a problem with it as you seem to bang in about it enough. It’s not effecting the club in a negative manner and is a only a positive thing. So what does it matter?

If the club are investing many tens of millions in Mutch, Schlupp, Fryers (yes, gone now), Van Aanholt....this list goes on and on and on....but just those four have cost around £45 million alone so far....then the right course would be have scrutiny of those potential purchases before signing on the dotted line beyond that of the opinion of the manager.

If Parish has been making decisions alone he is failing. If the managers have been too they are failing. If together then they have both been failing.

Take away our five best purchases over the last 60 months and our business deals have been nothing less than embarrassing for the money involved.

I think it probably is with a last resort player when you end up having to stop and not sign a satisfactory keeper at this level because you don't want to have wasted extended player's wages and not name him in the 25.

And you sign another player in that position. And the likely possibility it getting to the manager when it's hard enough already. That's why it should be up to a football man.

I remember when Freedman sold Ambrose and Scannell and it went potty on here. Well there was a balanced appraisal of players and what they offer in future and plan of where we go and what we do around such decisions. It may have been frustrating with Freedman not wanting or risk giviuit a go in games until all 11 players suited each other but there was always coherent thought behind most, if not all of it. He was ruthless when needed. Unfortunately it meant leaving a job half done but when you look at it meant complete sense.

Keep within FFP
Adhere to the Homegrown Player Rule
Have a maximum squad of 25

But we have ended up with 24

It does, but if Parish really was worth his salt, that mentality and feeling would be long gone from the club.

You'd of thought after 5 years in the premier league, we'd have progressed somewhat. Maybe even have some form of footballing identity or philosophy.

The tragedy is that if we go down, I really can't think of much we'll have to show for it.

This constant last ditch Pulisesque survival every season has led many to believe we've progressed far greater as a club than we actually have. The truth is it's artificial progress and we've achieved nothing but "having a go" and spending quite a fair bit of dosh along the way.

If anyone is to blame, it's my mate Liam. He started liking football and supporting just before it went down hill with Pardew. FFS Liam!

Whatever it is at least the guy has played football at a professional level. Parish was probably selling conkers in the Junior School playground when others were using jumpers for goalposts and having a kick a round. He loves his football does our Steve as a spectator but it is obvious he has never played it at any sort of competitive level even school. He can't see the bleedin' obvious let alone the subtle when it comes to many a bad transfer.

We must have brought in 40 players or more since 2012. How many have done reasonably well? 10 maybe? How many have been disappointing? A ridiculous amount.

Ron Noades didn’t play football at any level, but he did a lot of scouting whilst Chairman. He unearthed a lot of talent and signed them.
So what’s your point about Parish never having played football?
