He honoured our dead who did just that in his statement, and said if the poppy was a symbol of the world wars he would wear one.

I’m serving and I tell you this; if I were from the nationalist community in Derry I wouldn’t wear a poppy either. Look up the Ballymurphy Masacre and Bloody Sunday.

and a few for the allies. Ireland was also bombed by the Luftwaffe (possibly because they weren't 100% neutral) but as Adolf's half brother Aloysius was living there at the time just the once.
